Shadow and Act

As the leaves start to change color, pumpkin spice products explode across shelves everywhere, and sweater season returns once again, it becomes clear that fall has officially begun. While the above Autumnal features are definitely exciting, if you're anything like me, you're really looking forward to relaxing with a warm drink and this season's new TV schedule. Naturally, I've been anxiously awaiting the Fall season return of some legendary shows, like ABC's "How to Get Away with Murder" and FOX's "Empire. "However, even more so, I've been counting down the days until the premiere of NBC's newest, "This is Us," which chronicles the interwoven lives of its various characters, all of whom share the same birthday. It did not disappoint! In the hopes of preserving that amazing twist at the end of the pilot for those of you who still haven't seen it, I'll just recap a bit about some of the amazing characters and personalities viewers got the pleasure of meeting in last week's episode #1...

1. Milo Ventimiglia as Jack

Aside from his obvious good looks, Jack could really become my favorite man on fall TV this season. His enormous love and devotion to his wife, charming personality, and unwavering moral code left me smiling like an idiot long after the final credits. Guaranteed, you'll love him just as much as I do!

2. Mandy Moore as Rebecca

Though she spent the majority of the episode in labor, it is easy to see just how adorable Rebecca and Jack are together. The two of them, hopelessly and adorably in love, share a joyous, positive, and utterly captivating way of living. I simply just cannot wait to watch her become an extraordinary mother throughout the season.

3. Sterling K. Brown as Randall

Yet another tear-jerker storyline is that of main character Randall. Expertly portrayed by Sterling K. Brown, Randall is on the search for answers, as he finally meets his real father throughout the course of the pilot. Viewers should be more than excited to watch his story unfold as he continues to make hard decisions while still putting his delightful wife and kids first, no matter what.

4. Susan Kelechi Watson as Beth

Almost even more lovable than Randall is none other than his wife, Beth. Together, the duo is fully prepared to take on any and all of the drama that I'm sure will be thrown their way this season. Beth is simply a rock--her unwavering support for her husband and family is gratifying to watch.

5. Chrissy Metz as Kate

Kate is easily my favorite character on the show. Viewers notice her relatable, endearing, and hilarious attitude within the first seconds of meeting her. With a fun new love interest, along with a determined battle to lose weight, Kate is in store for a crazy dramatic season that I honestly cannot wait to watch and root for her every step of the way.

6. Justin Hartley as Kevin

Next up on the list is Kate's very attractive brother, Kevin. Struggling with his own kind of inner midlife crisis, Kevin and Kate's sibling support bond is one for viewers to easily fall in love with. I'm very much excited to watch as Kevin learns to navigate the tough realities of adult life, all while looking great doing so!

If you couldn't already tell, "This is Us" has a pretty all-star cast lined up. A great TV show can be hard to find, but these six characters (plus a few other supporting roles to come) will be #blessing our televisions with greatness all Fall long-- and I could not be more excited about it! Whatever you do, don't miss NBC's "This is Us," Tuesdays at 10/9c.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
