It is a blessing that the closest major city to my college is Boston. During my four years of college, I had countless opportunities to visit this beautiful city every time I need to travel around. However, not until this summer did I spend a good amount of time exploring the city. I am not a Bostonian by any chance, but a short three-month stay in Boston was enough to make me fall in love with this city.
Boston is one of the most diverse city in America that I have been to. The cultural richness comes from various racial and ethnic groups distributed all around the area. Even better, we all live together in great harmony. My housemates include an Indian, a white and a black guy. We very often talked about our own cultures as well as eager to learn about everyone else.
I love Boston because I love the MBTA Subway System, a.k.a., the T. I don’t think you can live in Boston without ever using the T. You can find the subway station at every major part of the city, and if there isn’t any train station, then there should be a few bus stops around the corner ready to pick you up. Plus, with $84.50 for a LinkPass, you can ride the trains and the buses around the city for the whole month! Where else could you find such a good deal?
I love Boston because there is a giant Primark in the middle of Downtown. I am nowhere a shopaholic, but Primark is always my favorite place to shop anytime I am in Boston. The price of every item is much lower than any other stores or outlets, but it doesn’t compromise the quality of the product. With 100 dollars you might be able to buy a pair of T-shirts for the summer at a store on Newbury Street. With 100 dollars, you could buy two or three whole set of outfits in Primark!
I love Boston because it is unofficially a hub of northeast tech business. It’s not Silicon Valley yet, but with a local support network, venture capital interest and a strong focus on developing student talent, Boston is a key player in the U.S. tech renaissance. Tech companies such as Hubspot, Runkeeper, athenahealth…call Boston home and have always been building a large communities of young people with entrepreneurial mindsets ready to take on new challenges. I met so many brilliant people throughout my internship, networking events and even parties in Boston.
Boston has been pretty cute to me and I love this city. You might, too.
