A Few Things That People Love About Fall

Fall is here. While I myself have never understood the hype, lately, fall has grown on me. Sure, I am always upset that I will soon be unable be able to wear shorts outside (definitely the saddest part of fall for me) there are still a few things that make me love fall.

1. Halloween is near. I have always been a huge fan of Halloween. From the time that I was young, I always loved watching the scary Halloween movies, going to haunted houses and haunted hayrides, and carving Halloween pumpkins. I mean, who doesn't love pumpkin seeds?

2. Another holiday, Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Who doesn't look forward to stuffing their faces on Thanksgiving? Plus, Thanksgiving heralds in the Christmas season, and we all look forward to Christmas.

3. Football season! At long last, its back! Yes, while there are certainly other sports that are played during the fall, a vast percent of the American population looks forward to fall simply because it marks the beginning of football season. Many of us enjoy football, whether it is high school, college, or the NFL. It is going to be a great season.

4. This is a new one that I am just discovering, but fall themed beers are amazing. There are so many different ones to try, and the variations of them are endless. Now that I am twenty one, it will be interesting to see what different brews there are out there during fall.

5. While I have never understood the obsession with things that are pumpkin spiced, this is apparently a very important part of fall for some people. I have never really tried any of the pumpkin spiced foods and beverages out there, but if they are so popular, maybe I will have to give them a shot.

6. Snow will be here soon! Yes, some people think I am crazy for this, but I love the snow, and it is especially interesting to see how the weather changes during fall in Buffalo. While it may not yet be winter, you never know what kind of weather you are going to see during fall in Buffalo.

Oddly enough, some of the best parts of fall involve looking forward to other seasons and holidays that are upcoming. But, fall itself does have many great characteristics. The weather change, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and leaves changing, it's all amazing. Everybody enjoy your fall!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
