In This Article:

Hello, fall weather (well maybe not so fast here in Tuscaloosa!) The leaves are slowly changing colors and college football is in full swing. As we cruise through this season, there is more than just fall break to look forward to! Here are some events you should write down in your agenda to accomplish over the new few months.

1. The Iron Bowl

One good thing about the fall is that the Crimson Tide's biggest game occurs during this time! This year, the Iron Bowl is on November 24. And better yet, it is here in Tuscaloosa so don't put your shakers and cowboy boots away too fast!

2. Spending the day relaxing at the park

Whether you're enjoying a day at Snow Hinton Park or relaxing by the Black Warrior River, you can enjoy nature and watch the leaves turn crimson while you doze off in an Enu with a book.

3. Go on a haunted house tour

Even though Tuscaloosa is home of the Crimson Tide, it's also home to many haunted places you can go through. The most well known Haunted House tour is Haunted Tuscaloosa Tours. The tours are an hour and a half where you can explore the dark history of Tuscaloosa starting at the Historic Drish House.

4. Sweater Weather!!!

Behold, the days of Nike shorts and Chacos will soon come to a close and the days of socks and sandals, Uggs, sweatpants, hoodies and more will arrive in its place!! Attending afternoon football games will finally become bearable without a heat stroke.

5. Go To Pink Box Burlesque's "Rocky Horror Picture Show"

Do the Time Warp again by attending the local Pink Box Burlesque's rendition of the "Rocky Horror Show" on October 27. This will be there 11th year performing at the Bama Theatre. The audience is allowed to participate with prop bags that will be sold in the lobby for five dollars.

6. Go to a pumpkin patch

No fall season is complete without going to a pumpkin patch! On McFarland Blvd in Northport, people are able to purchase pumpkins at Flatwoods Pumpkin Patch and participate in their fall festival. You can also score some cute fall pictures with your besties!

7. Take a trip to Old Bryce Hospital

If you're brave enough, you can visit the abandoned Jemison Center Insane Asylum Hospital, nicknamed "Old Bryce." People have said it's haunted so if you're into stuff like that, be my guest! But be careful, sometimes police control the area and if you're caught trespassing, you will be prosecuted!

This is by far the best season of the year where the atmosphere changes and everyone starts thinking about Halloween and Thanksgiving, but before jumping to November there are numerous activities that you should take advantage of right here in Tuscaloosa!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
