Fall Break
Katelin Gandee

So as all of the Ohio State students know, we had fall break this last weekend. There were some people who when home, some who stayed, and others that went on adventures. I went on an adventure. My best friend goes to Coastal Carolina, and that is where I choose to spend fall break.

The week before I came down, I wasn't sure if I was going to be a able to go.. hurricane Matthew ripped through the weekend before my flight. My best friend and her friends evacuated the area. They weren't able to get back until Tuesday evening. I was excited to find out that they were back and my flight was still scheduled.

This time going to visit was the first time I had flown with Allegiant. They offered a flight from Columbus to Myrtle beach for cheaper than other airlines. And it was perfect for the weekend get away that I was planning. I saved $200 on the flight and it was a direct flight unlike others. The flight ran smoothly getting there and I was grateful for that.

Flying in the only damage you could see from the plane was the damage done to the piers and some of the flooding that was left. When I met my best friend getting off the plane, the major damage that I saw was to the billboards and to the roofs of houses and businesses. The only tree that came down in my friends apartment complex was the one right out side of her apartment. She was lucky one of her roommates moved her car before leaving because the tree came down right where the car would have been.

Classes had just started back up at Coastal Carolina when I arrived, so I spent Thursday lounging around the apartment until one of my friends roommates told me it was Treat Yo Self Day, so we went to Taco Bell and then to Walmart to get ice cream. Friday, I went to campus with my best friend for fired chicken Friday. After, we watched a lot of Netflix. Saturday we went on an adventure!

Saturday we went to a put out golf place. It was escorting because there was a group of us who went. We all are competitive so it was a fun adventure. I ended up losing one ball... oops, and one of the other people lost one too. I ended up getting second place, which never happens for me. Then we had a bogo deal with Chipotle that was buy one get one. I'm not one that normally buys Chipotle, but it was a good deal. Later on in the day, my best friend had to go to work so I stayed back and watched the Ohio State Football game.

All in all is was a great fall break and I wasn't quite ready to head back to classes. But it is an experience I won't soon forget.

girl with a hat

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!
