What a warm welcome there was for new Defensive End, Dwight Freeney.
The Falcons have just received their newest addition to their defense, and an excellent addition to add to the roster. With the Falcons not having reached many fans standards, this is sure to put the Falcons back on the map.
Freeney is surely not an amateur to the NFL, where he was drafted in 2002 to the Indianapolis Colts. He played 11 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, and later played with the Arizona Cardinals and the San Diego Chargers. He is a seven-time pro bowler, having led the NFL with 16 sacks in 2004. As a former Syracuse standout, Freeney has had a career 107.5 sacks, 258 total tackles (40 solo), and 43 forced fumbles in 163 games.
Freeney completed his first practice with his new teammates on Sunday August 7 during training camp.
"We've got so much talent here," Freeney says about his new teammates on Sunday, "The more boys that rush the quarterback the better."
He is exactly right, the more defensive attacks towards the offense, the better the Falcons will get and more prepared they will be for the 2017 playoffs. One of the main reasons the Falcons did not make it to the playoffs is because of their lack of defensive skills to attack against the opposing team, and prevent them from scoring. With Freeney having this attitude and mindset for the game, the entire defense will adapt and make huge progress for the upcoming season.
In his first practice, he felt "a little rusty" on some of his signature moves.
Freeney says, "Right now I'm probably a stage one in a tropical storm, I want to get that thing to a Category 5."
With his attitude, him along with the Atlanta Falcons are sure to be a Category 5 with their own kind of storm ready to take over the NFL and head to the Superbowl.
Training Camp is almost over, and preseason is about to begin. So much is underway for the Atlanta Falcons in one of their most challenging seasons yet, but Atlanta is reclaiming their name to fame and are ready to take on the challenge. With each Atlanta team having a superstar standout, and Freeney being one of those standouts, the Dirty Birds will be ready to take over the game.
