In Marvel’s "Captain America: Civil War", which was released in May 2016, Falcon played a crucial role to the movie’s plot. This movie presented a new side to Falcon in comparison to what we saw from him in "Captain America: The Winter Solider." In the movie, Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie, develops a stronger relationship with Captain America, played by Chris Evans. According to Mackie in an interview with MTV News, the respect that Falcon has for Captain America helps him to set forth on their journey to finding Caps best friend, Bucky. “My respect for Cap helps me to help him find Bucky because I know how much that means to him, knowing where he’s come from and everything and what he’s gone through to this point,” Mackie explains.
The most important characteristic of Falcon in this movie is how he looks out for Captain America. This shows such great respect for Captain America, which ultimately drives Falcon to want to team up with Cap to find his best friend. Not only does Falcon respect Captain America, but Cap also respects Falcon in return, that is why Falcon seems to truly be the one person that Captain America actually trusts.
Falcon is not only an important character in this movie for his respect but also because of how important his character is going to be for the future of the franchise. According to the comics, Falcon becomes the next Captain America. If the movie stays true to the comics, then Anthony Mackie might be climbing into a lead role very soon. No matter what, Falcon is an extremely important character in the Captain America movies, and as I stated before, Falcon doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. So we probably should get ready to call him the next Captain America.
