It is no secret fake news and fake news websites are rampant around the internet and social media. President Trump also keeps talking about "fake news". He is not wrong, fake news is seemingly everywhere. What he is wrong about is what "fake news" really is.
First of all, fake news is news that is blatantly false. It has fake facts (or no facts) and upon a bit of research one can find that there are very little to no other new sources covering it. No matter if you consider yourself a conservative or liberal, both sides have "fake news" being spread on different topics. It is through what is now known as an "echo chamber". Social Media can track your likes and what you have clicked on in the past and will give you things that are similar in relevance. This is how both sides can get skewed information.
It is also good to note, that even reliable sources (or should be reliable sources) can be at fault for posting a some "fake news". CNN and their debacle with Trump and the scandalous compromising information Russia may or may not have on Trump is a perfect example. Buzzfeed is also at fault here. The news is unverified, which could land the articles on the subject into "fake news" territory. Yet, President Trump is not much one to talk. Early on in his campaign he made a mistake falling for fake news and spreading it (3:17-16:13)
With this in mind, here are sources considered to be reliable in America.
Keep in mind, best way to combat fake news is to research the topic, see if the sources considered reliable have articles on it, and read from more than one source for optimal fact checking.
