Faith Without Works.
I just want to apologize in advance for my assertiveness or preachy-ness. Please forgive me but these things need to be said and I am not in the business of telling people what they want to hear. I will speak truth and truth alone.
Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
–James 2:17-19
Faith without works is dead because even the demons have faith.
Even the demons believe in God.
Does that not shake you? Does that not convict you?
If your faith is not accompanied by works then your faith is no stronger than that of a demon.
Just let that sink in.
Now, let me ask you this: when was the last time your faith was accompanied by works?
I don’t mean the last time you held the door open for an elderly woman or the last time you paid for the person’s meal behind you in the drive-thru.
I mean the last time you acted out in faith. When was the last time you did something not because you knew you could do it but because you knew without the Holy Spirit you couldn’t?
Now that I’ve clarified what I mean, let me ask you again:
When was the last time your faith was accompanied by works?
If your faith stands alone then you will fall. If your faith stands alone then you stand on the same ground as a demon. I’m sorry if that sounds harsh but I’m not sorry that I said it because someone needs this. Someone is going to stumble upon this article, feel convicted, and run towards the Lord like they never have.
Do not be complacent. You cannot just sit there and wait for things to happen. You are a vessel and the Lord cannot use you if you refuse to move. You can believe all day long but if you refuse to act out in faith because it makes you uncomfortable then you will not grow.
You cannot just go to church once or twice a week and say that you are a follower of Christ. It doesn’t work that way. Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, if your faith is not accompanied by works then you are nothing but a member. You are called to be a fisher of men, to preach the Gospel, and to win souls for the Kingdom.
Time is running out. Jesus is coming soon and if I’m being honest with you, a lot of people are going to Hell if we don’t start moving. There is not a time to have faith and not do works. There is not a time to not act out in faith. There is not a time to have faith that is dead.
I’m begging you, whoever this is for, please, resurrect your soul, let the Lord breathe life back into your heart, and revive your faith.
