As many times as I have sat in my bed on a Tuesday night and balled my eyes out for hours while watching One Tree Hill, you have to admit, there’s more to OTH than just a 42 minute Netflix episode and a box of tissues.
1). People will always judge you.
We live in a world where people are constantly judging each other. Whether it’s the clothes we wear, how we do our hair, what kind of car we drive, or the job we have, people will always talk. Yeah it’s going to get you down but you have to learn how to overcome what others are saying, and that’s what defines you.
2). Love finds you, you don’t find love.
If you search for the perfect person, you’re not going to find them because you can’t search for something that’s not there.
3). You grow up fast. Probably quicker than you thought.
Day by day you’re living your life and before you know it, you’ve graduated high school trying to figure out your future. So much lies ahead of you and within a blink of an eye, you’re halfway through college thinking of how quick those years went. And that’s how fast the rest of your life is going to go by, so enjoy every day.
4). Being stronger than you think you are.
Everyone goes through tough times when they have to be strong and sometimes they don’t think they’re strong. In life, you’re given things that you were made to handle, so believe that you ARE strong enough to handle them.
5). Everyone figures their lives out at different times.
You’re not going to have it all figured out by the time you’ve graduated college. Rome wasn’t built in a day, so just relax and things will all eventually fall into place.
6). There’s a difference between a friend and a true friend.
People always claim that they have a lot of “friends” but when the going gets tough, your real friends are the ones that pull through while all of the other people that you thought were your “friends” are out enjoying themselves when you might have needed them the most.
7). You are enough.
To some people, you may not be pretty enough or smart enough. Well, who cares? If you think you are smart enough or pretty enough, then you are! You have to first believe in yourself before others believe in you.
8). It’s OK to take chances.
You can’t live inside your comfort zone your whole life because if you did, life would get pretty boring, pretty quick. So take a chance and believe that something great is about to happen.
9). Feelings are just going to suck.
10). Be proud of yourself.
Just because someone else doesn’t think you deserved the MVP award, flaunt what you won and be proud of yourself. You worked hard to get it so who really cares what everyone else thinks?
11). Be yourself.
I mean after 187 episodes, the theme song gets embedded in your head and you realize that Gavin DeGraw does have a point. Why would you want to be someone other than yourself?
12). People will lie.
Let’s face it, everyone has told at least one if not many lies during their life. Yeah it does suck when someone who you considered to be your best friend lies to you, but that’s life. It’s just a matter of if you’re willing to forgive them or not.
13). There is always going to be a double standard.
Guys have one set of standards. Girls, not so much. Extremely irritating but what can you do about it?
14). Crying is ok.
15). Guys will be jerks.
Not everyone is who they appear to be. They draw you in and then you realize that they weren’t the person you thought they were and then their true colors show. The right guy will come around eventually. But Dan Scott is still a jerk.
16). People always leave.
Some people won’t always be in your life. The ones who are meant to stay will always be around.
17). Nathan Scott will always be the number 1 bae.
Because at the end of the day, what’s not to love about Nathan Scott? Number 23 on the court, number 1 in our hearts. Always & Forever.
