Failure Is An Option

We believe that failure equals disappointment, but we can learn more from our failures than our successes.

Failure Is An Option

We live in a world that expects perfection, greatness, and uniqueness. The best of the best are put high on a pedestal for us to admire and look up to as we find the determination to continue our journey to be this type of "role model". But when you take a step back from all of their successes, and your successes, there are millions of failures. A majority of our life is us failing, and learning from those failures to be successful. Some fail more than others, and those are the people who we seem to idolize. The people who noticeably fail less or their successes are so impactful, that they become a vision of perfection. Let's look at a few people who reflect these ideas.

Walt Disney was a pioneer of the animator industry, becoming a popular culture icon that created the largest and best-known entertainment companies. From his first major success being "Snow White", his ideas snowballed into Disney World, Disney Land, hundreds of movies, and millions of dollars. But the amazing thing is that he is known for only his successes. People who are interested in learning about him have gone to discover that he was fired from a company for his lack of creativity and vision and went bankrupt multiple times. There were times where he had to look at his options and make critical decisions that could lead to failure, and he failed. He failed many times in the process of creating Disney World, but he did not stop. He learned from each failure and pushed himself further to reach his goal, and because of this dedication millions of people have enjoyed walking through the gates of Disney World.

Oprah Winfrey is a goddess in the eyes of millions of individuals. She has crashed through many obstacles in the media business, becoming one of the most well known and recognized individuals in the world. Her awards for her philanthropy, talk show, and movies surpass many people's dreams for a lifetime. She continues to make a huge difference in the world around her. When you look into Oprah's journey, the start was not so glamorous and successful. Her first job at a television company ended in her getting fired for having too much emotion in all of her stories. These comments did not effect her, and lead to her becoming a multi-billionaire.

Others like Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Charles Darwin, and Isaac Newton, all influential scientists, failed in their early parts of their lives. Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, and Charlie Chaplin, some of the best in their entertainment fields during their time were rejected because they were not good enough. Michael Jordan and Babe Ruth were not always seen as the G.O.A.T. when they were starting out their athletic careers. And there are hundreds of more stories of all of our role models who have failed, but came back stronger.

So next time you feel like you are stuck, or that you are not good enough, you are. Everyone, even the best of the best, have failed. Your failures do not define you, they shape you into the best person that you can be. So learn to take the failures with grace and dignity, pushing yourself closer to your goals and your life's success. Anything is possible, so do not be the reason that you cannot achieve your greatest dreams. Failure is a part of life, do not let it consume you and take your life away but project you into the greatest times of your entire life.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
