Did you know the Miss America Organization is a lot more than a beauty-based pageant? Here's a list of facts about the Miss America Program.
1. It's not a beauty pageant, it's a scholarship program.
The Miss America Organization is the largest scholarship provider for young women in the United States. Every girl that competes gets a scholarship even if she doesn't get the crown. Want a scholarship? Check out missamerica.org.
2. Miss America and Miss USA are two COMPLETELY different systems.

The crowns aren't the only difference. But they're both gorgeous.
3. It was originally a "bathing beauty" competition.
If you watch the Miss America pageant, you probably noticed that there are many phases of competition. But in the beginning, it was only a swimsuit contest made up by businessmen to extend the summer activities in Atlanta, Georgia.
4. Miss America and the Children's Miracle Network are partners.
Miss America has raised over $15 million for the Children's Miracle Network. Each contestant is required to raise money for them when competing. Want to donate? Check out my contestant link here.
5. And finally, the beach photo.
