With just 10 percent of the population being left-handed, it can be easy for everyone else to forget we're living in a right-handed world.
But, aside from making it tough to cut a straight line with a pair of scissors designed for righties, right handed people should give more credit to us lefties... we go through a lot of struggles and it isn't fun.
The brains and bodies of lefties may operate differently than those of right-handed people (and in mixed-handed people, who may have different dominant hands for different tasks).
It’s linked to stress in pregnancies as well. In one 2008 Swedish study of moms and their 5-year-old children, women who were depressed or stressed during their pregnancies were more likely to have mixed or left-handed kids. In other studies, babies with low birth weight or those that were born to older mothers, were more likely to be lefties as well.
I, as a "leftie," know the struggles.
The pen and pencil smudges all over the paper, and hands..

Babies may show early signs of left handedness
According to Pop Sugar, some of your favorite celebrities are lefties!
Tom Cruise, Whoopi Goldberg, Paul McCartney, Oprah Winfrey, Justin Bieber, Celine Dion, Jennifer Lawrence, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie all have dominant left hands.
Many deceased celebrities, like Marilyn Monroe, Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix were left-handed too. Maybe being left-handed is the secret to success?
In the 1990s, the U.K.-based Left-Hander's Club started the annual "Left Handers Day." Every year on August 13th, lefties around the world can celebrate their minority dominant hand. The purpose is to raise awareness about those who are living with a dominant left hand in a right-handed world.
