Faces Work Week Survivors Will Relate To

I mean..."Spirit" Week.

'Tis the season for moving back to school...which means recruitment...which means, dun dun dun...work week. Also known as the one time a year when we willingly give up our last week of summer to move back early and work our butts off, all for the sake of ~sisterhood~ and making sure everything is perfect to recruit a new pledge class. Sure, the bonding is fun and of course we'd do anything for our sisters, but also, work week is exhausting.

1. When told to redo something for the millionth time

As in: "Can you rewrite that sign, but move the letters up half an inch?" *smiles on the outside and screams on the inside*

2. When running on less than 6 hours of sleep

You'll start to wonder if you're actually losing your sanity and need to rely on your sisters to remind you of what's happening.

3. When asked a question you have no opinion on

Yes, I am desperately trying to care about whether or not we should change the bows to a shade lighter...but I just do see why it matters so much.

4. When someone throws you under the bus

Sends death glare over the heads of hundreds of other girls...

5. When you miss your name at roll call

Real friendship is imitating someone else's voice so they don't get fined for running a few minutes late.

6. When the day goes longer than the schedule said it would

Mantra: Complaining won't make it end faster.

7. When you finally crack

Also known as that night when everything is going wrong and everyone is dancing on your last nerve and you just start hysterically laughing, like a deranged person.

8. When someone is yelling after 10 p.m. and keeping you awake

What kind of monster wastes valuable sleeping hours?

9. When your voice sounds like an adolescent boy

Chanting at the top of your lungs all day for an entire week only has negative results on the vocal chords; if you can speak above a whisper, you're doing it wrong.

10. When you have to search for something in the creepy basement

My brain @ me: "You know what we haven't thought about for a while? Ghosts."

11. When you're waiting to eat lunch

Surely no one notices that I'm hovering around the door to the kitchen, right?

12. When you remember you'll have a whole new pledge class in a weekBecause even though it's more work than you could have possibly imagined and even though your sisters have started to drive you crazy, it's all worth it in the end. What's better than adding dozens of new voices and personalities to the craziness that is Greek life?

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
