As we all know, getting through some semesters isn't as easy as most people think. Most of us, however, experience these same feelings as we struggle through what seems to be a never-ending semester.

1. This is me when I first moved in.

I was ready to get straight A's, have 8 hours of sleep, eat 3 meals a day, and have a social life. These are unrealistic goals I set every semester, but it doesn't hurt to try, am I right?

2. This was me when the first round of tests came.

Having 3 tests 3 weeks into the semester was like a premature finals week. One second, you think you have your life together and the next, you're having a breakdown and questioning all life choices.

3. This was me when I received my grades back from those tests.

Depression.

4. This is me looking at the driver who almost ran me over on the crosswalk.

At first I'm upset, but then it changes to, "Hit me, I don't care. Pay my tuition."

5. This is me when a professor says "This isn't an assignment you can do last minute and make a good grade on."

Is he trying to challenge me?

6. This is me when my professor cancels class.

Sleeping in when my 8am gets canceled? Best feeling ever.

7. This is me when my professor doesn't cancel class even though the syllabus says we won't have class.

"I AM OUTRAGED!"

8. This is me hanging on to what motivation I have left to finish the semester.

"I just have to get through this week" - Me last week, this week, and every week until break.

9. This is me trying to calm myself once I realize that C's get degrees.

RIP to my GPA, immune system, sleep schedule, bank account, and life.

10. This is me when I realize Thanksgiving Break is right around the corner.

Ah, break at last. The semester isn't done but I sure am.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs.
