Facebook & Politics

There's a time and place for politics ... Facebook is not the place.

I'm going to say this because someone needs to: no one actually cares about your political opinions on Facebook. No one. Stop posting about them. Stop being negative about the candidate you don't support. Stop acting like the candidate you support is perfect. Just stop. If they wanted to know what you thought they would ask you.

Growing up I was always taught that there are two things you don't discuss: politics and religion. Now, that being, said there's a time and place for both. By no means am I telling you to oppose your opinions, but social media can destroy you if you aren't careful. Especially when discussing touchy subjects.

You do know that what you post on social media follows you right? That it can cause you to lose a job that you love or get your application dismissed from a job that you've been dreaming of.

Is arguing over a Facebook post really worth that?

Think about the family, friends and even coworkers, you might offend. Think about how they might take your post out of context. Think about how you post can go viral with the click of one share and you and your family could be affected for the rest of your life.

All because you couldn't keep your opinion to yourself. Then you'll justify yourself by saying "well everyone's offended these days." But think about it this way, before social media the world was a much calmer, more peaceful place. It has great advantages but it can cause so many problems. People wouldn't get so offended if the people posting the status weren't out looking for a reaction. People want a rise. They want you to argue with them. They want to stand up for what they believe in and that's fine. Let them. Don't put yourself at risk by pushing back.

So support your candidate. Vote because it's your constitutional right. Say what you want to say because you have the right to freedom of speech. Just think before you post or in my opinion don't post at all because it does more bad than good.

In other news, my pizza rolls are done and I need to post a pic of that real quick. Catch ya next week!

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
