A Facebook poke, a, "I know I haven't talked to you in a month but I'm glad that we're still friends," or maybe it's a "Hi, I'm so glad you've accepted my friend request, let's hang out sometime, [insert] uncomfortable wink or flirtatious emoji," or even a ,"OMG THIS WAS A TOTAL ACCIDENT, I don't even know who you are!" So many different meanings and motives behind a Facebook poke.
As a firm believer in Facebook poking, I think we should return to our century old ways and revisit this forgotten form of communication.
Facebook has recently had a decline in users, "Personal posts were down 21% from mid-2014 to mid-2015, the report suggests. And the report, which cites four people with knowledge of the situation, says overall sharing of posts declined 5.5% during that same span."
My knowledgeable advice, ditch your scrabble lovin' and start Facebook poking again, it's a great form of communication that requires zero eye contact and zero emotion. There's no drama, no need to explain the other person's intentions and it takes a total of two seconds to poke someone.
Rekindle that boring romance with a spontaneous poke war. Annoy your fellow coworkers by poking them on Facebook instead of doing your actual job. Poke that cute boy that sits behind you in your biology lecture.
Take risks. Poke people.
I believe in America and I believe in the sacred art of Facebook Poking and I think that you should too.
