Face masks: from beauty bloggers showing off their hundred dollar magnetic masks to the average person dropping two dollars on a peel-off mask, they're everywhere in the beauty world today. Not everyone has a bunch of cash to drop on what those bloggers are endorsing and let's face it: there are cheaper alternatives that do the same thing. Whatever your skin type, be it oily, dry, or combination, this article can be your go-to for inexpensive and effective face masks!
1. For Oily Skin
There are about a million options for oily, acne-prone skin on the market today. Excess oil on the skin can cause clogged pores, but don't panic: there are lots of options for you. These masks can be bought in bulk or in single-use packages and can be picked up in your local superstore or at places like Ulta Beauty.
Freeman's "Feeling Beautiful" masks are notoriously inexpensive and come in large quantities: multiple uses and a bang for your buck. This particular mask is available at Ulta Beauty and the clay helps to absorb the oils in the skin without overdrying to help prevent future breakouts. I have also seen "Feeling Beautiful" masks at superstores as well, though a more limited stock may be available.
Mud masks are notoriously good at absorbing excess oil on the skin, and they're also super fun when they dry on your face! This "Be Berry Fresh" balancing mud mask works to clear pores and absorb excess oil. This mask also comes in larger quantities and is a bit more expensive than the "Feeling Beautiful" masks, but still is a great deal and smells great, too! This one is only available at Ulta Beauty, but Sephora has other masks of the same brand as well.
This mask is a tad pricey when bought in bulk, but it also comes in single-use packages for someone who is looking to get fantastic skin on a budget! Peel-off masks are great for exfoliating and active charcoal does wonders for acne-prone skin. The best part about this product is that it's available everywhere, from Target to Ulta to your local superstore!
2. For Dry Skin
Cream masks are great for adding and sealing in moisture in dry skin. This particular mask uses Manuka honey, which is a wonderful smelling ingredient that adds to the moisture and elasticity of skin! This mask is available in multi-use tubes as well as many of the others on this list and is still fairly inexpensive.
For those of you looking to have a little more fun with your face regimen, this paper mask features a koala face on it to make you smile while hydrating your skin! This particular mask is only available at Ulta, but there are many other fun faces on the market elsewhere. Paper masks are great at adding moisture to the skin, and since no rinsing is usually required, that's where the moisture stays!
Shea Moisture is one of the more expensive brands in this article, but their products are natural and leave your skin feeling great. This mud mask has raw shea butter to infuse moisture directly into the skin while the clay helps to seal it in. Shea Moisture has many great options for all skin types as well as products beyond face masks and is certainly worth the investment.
3. For Combination Skin
For those of us with combo skin that leans toward the oily side, this mask is for you. It works to eliminate impurities in the skin and clear pores while remaining gentle on the dryer parts of the skin. As someone who struggles with combination skin myself, this mask is a personal favorite! It tingles a little when you first put it on your face, which helps wake up the skin and is a normal experience with this particular mask.
"Feeling Beautiful" once again comes through -- the best part about this brand is that it says directly on the front of the package what skin type would benefit most from each mask. This peel-away clay mask helps to moisturize dryer areas and exfoliate/absorb extra oil in other oilier areas for even the toughest of combo skin. This mask also comes in single-use packaging if you don't want to commit to the whole tube.
7th Heaven masks are incredibly inexpensive single-use pouches that still have all the great skin care benefits for someone who's really looking for a bargain. This black seaweed peel-off mask is specifically for combo to oily skin, but their many options include all skin types! These masks are widely available as well, from WalMart to Sephora.
5. For Any Skin Type
Shea Moisture once again comes through for those of us who want to do face masks but have sensitive skin. Not only does this face mask smell great, it's good for all skin types looking for a softening mask that won't be irritating to even the most sensitive of skin care enthusiasts! It's available in single packets or in a tub much like the shea butter one above.
This mud mask does triple duty, working as a face wash, exfoliator and mask all in one tube. It's great for anyone who wants to exfoliate those dead skin cells to reveal that bright skin that lies underneath! As I mentioned before, all of these masks smell great and though this one is only available at Ulta, this brand is available at multiple other stores for your convenience.
This final mask combines dead sea minerals to regenerate skin and lavender and bergamot to create a great-smelling mask that will help you unwind from the stresses of daily life. Though I've circulated through many of the same brands in this article, there are many other options out there that are inexpensive as well! These few brands, however, are inexpensive and have worked for myself and many others in the past -- it's always a good idea to look at reviews just to be sure. Happy masking, everyone!
