Dear Mom,

Happy Mother's Day!

When I was a little kid, you were all I knew. I was always a mama's girl. I remember you singing to me "you are my sunshine" or "brown eyed girl." Fast forward 15 years, and you were the one helping me pick out my dress for my prom. In another couple years you'll be the one by my side to help me pick out my wedding dress. All the memories in between mean so much to me and are something I will cherish forever. I feel grateful knowing I have many years ahead full of many more wonderful moments with you.

Our relationship hasn't always been the best. We've for sure had our ups and downs, and at times, we brought out the worst in each other. But we always find a way to get through the bad times together. You've showed me how to not let the mistakes you make define you and how to not let the pain other people cause you to question yourself. When you have feelings of insecurity and doubt, it's important to believe in yourself and remember its never too late to start over.

In the past year, I've seen you make more accomplishments and grow more than most people do in an entire lifetime. You're stronger than you've ever been. You have no idea how intelligent and brave you are. I've never met someone as thoughtful and generous as you. You always think of how others would feel and go out of your way to show your appreciation. You're incredibly talented and creative and with every new project you take on, you always put in your very best.

The older I get, the more I realize how lost I'd be without you. I don't know how I would get through the day without knowing I have someone to call whenever I need to vent, get advice, or tell my good news to. I love knowing I have someone to laugh with or cry to whenever I need. You are an amazing mom and I love you more than you know. Happy mothers day!

The Battle Between College And My Mental Health

College isn't easy, and I'm afraid I'm not going to make it at the rate my mental health is going.

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?
