Sunday in the National Football League marked a special day. During the opening festivities, when such things like the National Anthem are performed, members from ever level of the NFL expressed their defiance towards Donald Trump. These actions occurred after Trump made comments condemning professional athletes for exercising their first amendment rights.
Team owners, coaches and players all knelt, locked arms and/or were not present during the national anthem to show just how unified the NFL really is when it came to an outside force condemning them as only a group that disrespects this country. With a little research, any one can learn that the NFL is a league that is always keeping in constant interaction with the neighborhoods that the teams are located. They give back to these communities in many ways, not letting the platform they are all on escape them.
The point that was made Sunday by these teams was that the President of the United States of America couldn't possible mean the league that give back to the community constantly, travels to hospitals to see ill children and to give millions of dollars to disaster relief agencies to help with the devastation caused by the recent weather.
At the end of the day, the National Football League is a sports league that has the right and ability to voice its opinion, which is a right given to them by living in this country. What someone else feels about those expressions is nearly an afterthought.
