Explain Your Current Situation To Your Two Year Ago Self

Well, 16 was lame, but 18 is way cooler.

Explain Your Current Situation To Your Two Year Ago Self

The inspiration behind this week’s article is a tweet I recently saw. It read, “Explain your current situation to your two years ago self.” In my case that puts me at sixteen and it's Christmas at 11:16 p.m. So, I’m just gonna go right into it.

Hey dude, well, first Kandi just fell off the couch, coughed and that startled you a lot, actually. She’s OK though. Good news, she’s alive and you have another dog named Hanna! Super cute, I promise. She doesn’t like you at first, but that’s OK.

So, education wise, we graduated. This is so funny. You are still alive, so no cons there. We just finished our first semester of college, which is super cool. You are quite an interesting one, you never stopped being weird. I know you were hoping you would calm down and be more normal, but that didn’t happen. That’s okay. You made a decent amount of new friends and they’re all really cool and you kept your friends from high school. Isn’t that weird. I know I think it is.

Your hair is still blonde and I wish you would stop with that brown nonsense. Seriously, ignore the haters blonde IS your color my dude. Aside from that, we currently make deodorant so that’s really cool. We hope to get a business up and running by next year. We have three jobs that we currently work and an internship at college, so that is nice.

We just keep trying new things and we really love Chance the Rapper. Like a lot. Dude, we actually wrote two twelve page papers this past semester. Isn’t that wild? You were freaking about that ten page one like a month ago and we just did twenty-four pages. Wild.

To be completely honest, you would probably need a lot of hours to process your current self because boy are we ever overwhelming. Seriously, we still never shut up and we love to talk about global-warming. Dude, our little sisters are still the most important people in our life. They get really religious next year, just ignore it.

Probably one of the most important differences between you and me is that my favorite color is yellow. I know, yellow! Why yellow? Well, yellow just makes me feel happy and it’s not that Berry Blue Jell-o doesn’t but we just really like to dress like a bottle of mustard.

OK, but now the most important thing about our current situation is that we have a new phone company. I know what you’re thinking but bear with me… Basically, it sucks but it helped us grow into who we really are today. We literally use Facebook Messenger for everything. We love it. It has games and you have two super awesome GM’s with your super awesome friends from college and home. Really, Facebook Messenger really steps it up and I know you’ll appreciate knowing this more than anything else. Seriously, this is probably the most important detail about your current life. Facebook Messenger is so litty, we don’t even text dude. We literally make everyone FB message us.

Well, can’t wait til you get to this point. Just remember it gets better and you rock!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
