Studying abroad is always exciting and full of adventures. While West Liberty University is not a huge campus, the experiences are quite different. Here are my top 10 picks of being an international student at a small-size university.
1. There is no home-taste food.
We either have to adjust to what the university can offer or cook our own. But wait, we have annual food festivals, where we get to share our culture with the fellow students.
2. We may not have dozens of students from one country, but we have students from dozens of countries.
A university can be small in size, but it doesn't lack the level of cultural diversity.
3. "I don't have so many country mates, and I feel homesick."
This is very common for international students, especially the first time exchange students. To overcome homesickness is one of the lessons for international students, and each will have his or her own way to get through those tough moments.
4. Challenges and opportunities.
While most students haven't been able to study abroad or learn another language, it brings both opportunity and challenges to international students.
5. The opportunities are huge.
Despite all the isolation and challenges, small-size universities provide each international student more opportunities to go outside campus and reach the communities, as long as there is a heart to share the culture.
