On October 13th, I saw Catfish and the Bottlemen and Worn Flints. Sometimes I do a little research on the opening band to hear their sound and what they have to offer. Listening to their album, I was not a fan, but when they came on stage they blew the crowd away. They are a three piece band. The lead brought so much energy to the crowd, it was incredible. Without a doubt, they were one of the best small opening bands I have seen. In the video, there are a few clips of him shredding on the guitar. About a week before the show my mom said to me “your generation just doesn’t have the guitarists like we had.” I agreed with her for the most part, but that is really for mainstream music for the masses. This band completely contradicts what she said. At the end of the show, I met and told them how they had a great performance. They told me "it is important to show up when you have a headliner like this one."

I came to the venue about 30 minute early, thinking I would get a good place in line, but to my surprise I was very wrong. There were at least 100 people in front of me. I was shocked because everyone I mentioned this band to, had no idea who they were. Since they are playing at a smaller venue, I genuinely thought not many people would arrive early.

When Catfish came out, the crowd rushed to the front. The screaming fans pushed to get closer to the stage, as they began their first song. Van McCann is the lead singer who has an amazing voice. He is quite attractive and has an english accent, so all the girls went wild. In the video at about 1:32, it is a little hard to hear, but there is this huge bass drop. This is something I have never heard before, but it was loud, empowering, and I could feel it through my body. It was a simple attribute to their sound, which adds their uniqueness. I still watch the videos to relive the happiness and energy this band brought the the stage. They are a force to be reckoned with, so keep an eye out for Catfish and the Bottlemen!
