During house tour round of recruitment my freshman year, I was already looking forward to moving into whichever sorority house I chose. Throughout my freshman year, I heard all of the older girls talk about what living in house was like, their favorite memories of living in house, and even the funny things they would do together like play pranks on each other, have movie nights together, and so much more. Now that I am just finishing up my first week in house, here are some things that you can expect first hand when you live with thirty of your sisters:
1. There is always someone around.
No matter if you want someone to go get food with you, watch a movie with you, go out with you, or even just sit next to you while you both do your homework, there is always someone home to do something with, and no matter who it is, I guarantee you will have a blast.
2. You can also have your alone time.
Most sorority houses are pretty spacious, so there is a ton of space for you to go if you want to be by yourself. Close your door, sit in the kitchen, the basement, the living room, or whatever room your house has that not a lot of people go into. It is very possible to have your own space in a house filled with thirty girls.
3. Getting ready for house events is much easier.
Now instead of having to get ready for Chapter a half hour early, now you can get ready ten minutes early and just run downstairs a few minutes before it starts. This is a huge game changer and gives you more time to hang out with the other girls in house, do some homework, or even just lay in your bed and take a nap.
4. Your closet space is so much bigger.
And I don't mean your own personal closet space. Living with so many other girls, you now have around thirty other closets to go through. There is always someone willing to let you borrow clothing for any event or themed party, or even if you haven't done laundry and need another dress for Chapter. Someone will always have something, no matter the occasion.
5. You make incredible memories.
I have only been living in my sorority house for around a week, and I have already made a ton of new memories that make me laugh or say "aw" when I think about them. And this is only the beginning. I can not wait for the countless other memories that I will be making throughout the school year. And I know, come May, that I will not want to move out of this house. So PNMs, look forward to living in your sorority house. And to any girls living in house now, treasure it because before you know it, you will be moving out and wishing you had more time to live with thirty of your best friends.
