Why I Am Excited For My Senior Year
Jonathan Daniels

They say all good things come to a end, high school is no different. Although I don't consider high school the best four years of my life (and don't want them to be). I am sad that I will be leaving my childhood behind and also happy for the new world that is ahead of me. I'm guessing that senior year is going to be a great, memorable change between these two phases of my life. I hope it is nothing short of the best year in my life so far.

1. Early Dismissal

Seniors at my school get the benefit of leaving school early as 12:30. This opens several opportunities for jobs and volunteer work for me. Maybe even a nap break.

2. Powder-puff Game

Every year, upperclassman at my school come together to raise money for breast cancer in October through a powder-puff game. None of us really know how to play football or what we are doing, but it is a great way to get together, have fun, and raise money for a good cause.

3. Applying to college

For me, the biggest thing about my senior year is going to be applying to colleges. That is when it will really set in that high school is almost over. I finally get to decide what I am doing with my life and where I will be devoting the next four years of my life to. There is underlying rewards in that.

4. Senior Brunch

Right before graduation, my school organizes a brunch for all the seniors. I heard the food isn't super good, but the place has great picture spots.

5. School dances

School dances will probably be my favorite memory from high school. Not only is it an event where the whole school can have fun together, but it is so fun to put on a gown and get your hair and makeup done.

6. Senior Road Trip

Every year, numerous parents set up the school in different themes that represent various places in the world. But that is all I really know about it. Seniors have to keep what happens at the event a secret for the future grades. I'm exited to experience it.

7. Getting accepted into college/ Committing

Getting accepted into my dream college will be one of the happiest days of my high school experience. There will be a tangible thing that represents all my hard work throughout the past decade. Also I'll finally get a glimpse into the next phase of my life.

8. Senior night for Lacrosse

I play lacrosse at my school, and although I don't consider myself the most valuable player, I am exited to be celebrated with my other teammates on senior night. It will be sad to step on the field for the last time though.

9 Graduation

The past four years will all be to get my diploma and throw my cap in the air. Just like that, it will all be over. Goodbye high school! As always, Go Go Mustangs!

eye roll

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

Yify

Another day, another Elle Woods comment. Can’t us blondes get through the day without someone harping at us over the typical stereotypes about who we are? I never understood why a person was judged based upon the hair color they were born with, or the hair color they choose to have (unless you dye your hair blue like Kylie Jenner, I’m still trying to understand why that’s a trend). Nevertheless, as it should be assumed, not everyone is the same. Not all blondes like bright colors and Lilly Pulitzer, and not all blondes claim to identify with Marilyn Monroe. I think the best suggestion to give to people before they make such radical claims is to stop judging a book by its cover. Or in this case, stop judging a blonde by her hair color.

15 Things That Happen On Your Birthday

Do you have a small get-together or throw a big bash?

My birthday has never been my favorite holiday. I've found that I'm more excited to celebrate my friends' and family members' birthdays more than my own. I don't like being the center of attention, so I usually celebrate over dinner with a small group of family and friends. This way, I can enjoy myself naturally without feeling like I have to entertain everyone and make sure they are satisfied. In the past when I've had large parties, I was so nervous that people weren't perfectly content that I didn't enjoy myself at my own celebration.
