Everywhere I look, I see women working out and I applaud them for it. What I do not see is options.
For years, companies have used the desire for weight loss to their advantage and have sold products and packages that are supposed to help weight loss, but no one out there has been tackling weight gain. Why? I have concluded that it is because skinny people do not need to work out. But one has to ask, what if they do not want to be skinny? What if they actually want bigger thighs? What if they are actually at an unhealthy weight? What if their high metabolism is the reason why they cannot maintain their weight?
The term “skinny” can be a blessing and a curse. If you have ever had someone pick up your hand and say, "you need to eat a hamburger," then you know exactly what I mean. No one likes to be criticized for his or her weight, even skinny people.
With the growing trend of curvy women, there has been good and bad. While I am happy women are actually finally starting to be happy with themselves, I am also upset that there are women who were mistreated that are now taking their anger out on skinny women. There is little fat shaming nowadays but there have been some skinny shaming. Why? To put it simply, I do not know. No one knows why people hurt other people but it really is sad.
And with the obsession of curves, waist trainers have gotten even more popular and big companies like Shredz and Rokhardbody have been getting a lot more clientele who actually want to lose fat on their stomach and tone it. They have also got plenty of packages for weight loss but tell me, where are the packages for weight gain? What about the women who actually want to bulk up and maybe get a little bit more muscle in the glutes? Those packages do not exist.
I suppose one can just go to the doctor and get injections, but who has the money for that? And those who do get injections, are instantly criticized and ridiculed. They are called fake and lazy. Why do you think a lot of women turn to this? We have a lack of options. I am less than five feet, 93 pounds, and everyday, I get emails about weight loss programs. Now, not all scammers know that information but it is everywhere.
And, if you were to ask someone from one of the big companies, they would probably direct you to a weight loss program. For example, I was on Shredz’s site and they have an option to get a consultation. I told the person that I was less than 100 pounds and would be willing to work out about an hour a day. He directed me to the weight loss program. He gave me a pretty good discount but a weight loss program is not what I need. I have come to the conclusion that I will be buying only their protein shakes and will be doing a lot of weight training. I will also need to consume a lot more but still, with that conclusion, I still do not have a direct plan to do what I want.
There are so many ways to lose weight out there and we are kind of left in the dust. More workout plans for healthy weight gain could actually help someone. There are people like me that have a high metabolism that make it hard to gain weight. There are also people who suffer from eating disorders who need help to get their diet and physique back into shape and healthy. It’s not as simple as just eating a burger to get to a size we want. And it’s not about just being thick. It is about being fit, healthy and being able to reach a body goal that we desire.
