Recently, Grand Valley’s Exercise Science program has introduced Exercise is Medicine at GVSU. This organization on campus is committed to improving the health, wellness, and quality of life of faculty, staff, and students by prescribing the wonder drug. Exercise!
Often times, we neglect to recognize the importance of exercising on a daily basis. Physical activity can improve academic performance, memory & mood, self-confidence, sleep quality, social skills and stress & weight management. In addition to many improvements in life, physical activity can reduce addictive cravings, anxiety & depression, chronic diseases and fatigue. There are 1, 440 minutes in a day, try and schedule 30 minutes in for physical activity when you can!
Exercise is Medicine at GVSU focuses on the importance of improving the quality of life for faculty, staff and students through exercise. Many events are taking place throughout the months of October and November to continue promoting this organization, and to spread word about the importance of exercising daily to keep committed to the health and wellness of everyone’s lives!
Come join faculty, students, staff and even President T. Haas on October 7. At 10am, an Exercise Proclamation Signing will take place at the Clock Tower. Immediately following is a walk with President T. Haas starting at the Clock Tower! On this walk there will be fun games along the way, in addition to many exciting facts about exercising and health and wellness. On November 1 from 10am-11:30am, Keynote Speaker Barry Franklin will be making an appearance at Grand Valley to help continue celebrating Exercise is Medicine at GVSU, and promoting health and wellness for all!
Come join us for these exciting events for both October and November, and get your exercise on! Also, follow us on social media, and have your friends and family share too.
