It is no rumor that Downtown Naperville was voted as the 2nd best city to live in America by Niche, and it just got better.

On June 18, residents of Naperville were shocked to see their favorite Starbucks location, W Jefferson Ave and S Main St closed. That is until the word got out that THE Starbucks Reserve was opening right across the street in their very hometown.

The NEW Starbucks Reserve in Downtown Naperville is 1 of 2,000 locations in the world that offers a coffee bar, an extended amount of seating, and an exclusive menu: Espresso, Cold Brew, Coffee + Ice cream, Brewed. Yes, I said it. ICE CREAM! Costumers enthusiastically responding, "for here!" are accompanied with a wooden tray and, depending which drink purchased, a description of the coffee beans used.

Nicole, a college student from Dominican University mentioned, "I drive forty minutes to the Starbucks Reserve in Naperville for the 'Dirty Chai'." The 'Dirty Chai' is a blend of Starbucks Reserve's Nitro Cold Brew and a Chai Latte. Curiously, I asked Nicole how she came up with the idea of mixing the two. "When you sit at the coffee bar the Baristas periodically give you samples. I fell in love with this drink when I sampled it a couple weeks ago," (Nicole, age 20).

THE NITRO COLD BREW

This 5 calorie wonder is an overnight celebrity. On tap at Starbucks Reserve, the Nitro cold brew is infused with Nitrogen. (Hence Nitro in the name). The nitrogen makes it naturally creamy and sweet without the need of extra calories. Not only is it low-cal, but it is highly caffeinated.

Whether it is to catch up with an old friend, to go on a first date, or to cram before an exam, the Downtown Naperville Starbucks Reserve is the place to be. It is always alive and going, even at 6:30 in the morning. The Baristas behind the counter offer exclusive samples and kindness to each costumer, regardless of the time.

The Starbucks Reserve is the perfect luxury for Naperville.

TIPS:

If there is a long line, sit at the bar. You can ask for the drink to go if you need to!

If you are watching your calories, order an Americano or a Nitro cold brew off of the Reserve menu. Coffee, in moderation, is healthy for you. One cup of coffee a day can boost your metabolism.

Get to know your barista, especially if it isn't busy when you're there. They know a ton about coffee and are SUPER kind.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
