For us ladies who are below 50 and who aren’t on some kind of medication that prevents us from getting our periods, we all know that we have our monthly friend to look forward to! Yes, mother nature is just fulfilling her duties, but for some, it can be painful! However, as strange as it sounds, there are some perks of having our period. So let's exclaim and be thankful for these reasons!
1. You’re not pregnant (unless you want to be!).
2. You can eat as much chocolate as you want!
3. If you don’t feel like being a person, it is socially acceptable to be a blob.
4. If you don’t feel like being social, you have a BLOODY good excuse not to be!
5. You get to wear sweats and other clothes that make you feel comfortable.
6. Your family/friends feel bad for you and may do favors for you that they wouldn’t normally do.
7. You can sleep even more than usual.
8. Your significant other is there for comfort!
9. You can wear granny panties without shame.
10. You feel super fresh and satisfied whenever you change your pad or tampon.
11. You are able to learn how to stain treat clothing.
12. Once your cycle is regulated, your body usually at least gives you a warning that you’re getting your period, so it’s not a total surprise.
13. Just because you’re bloated, doesn’t mean that you’re gaining weight.
14. It feels so, sooooo much better when you’re off your period!
15. Sometimes when you live with or near other women, your periods start to somehow become in sync, and you can bond over having your periods around the same time.
17. Period cramps can be fixed with pain medication.
18. If you ever do give birth, then this is good practice.
19. At least you know that your body isn’t off balance since you’re menstruating like you should be as a woman.
20. Those eager girls in the tampon commercials are always so excited to have their periods, which can be inspirational.
21. Periods are also punctuation, which is pretty cool!
Okay, so let’s be real here. Who really LOVES having her period? It’s not the best thing, but it’s not the worst either. If you really have deadly uncomfortable periods, then there are ways to treat them. Definitely talk to your doctor, and you can hopefully work out a way to help yourself feel better. Periods are no fun, but if you have a bad attitude about having yours, then that will only make your experience worse. Make the best of it, and have a healthy and happy period!
