Thanksgiving. The day to celebrate all that we are grateful for. It holds a great significance, and its celebrations should not be any less great. There are so many things to do on Thanksgiving - it can be celebrated by spending time and indulging in activities with family or by participating in the activities happening all around the city.

A family get-together for Thanksgiving feast is something you will definitely cherish for a long time. But, apart from that, there are some other fun ways that you can indulge yourself this Thanksgiving. So, here are some of the suggestions to make your Thanksgiving this year a beautiful experience with lasting memories.

1. Be a Part of the Macy’s Parade

It is the world’s largest and second oldest Macy's Thanksgiving parade first held in 1924, so definitely not worthy of missing out. Enjoy it with the whole family and friends as it caters entertainment to every age-group. But, it is wise to occupy your place in advance much before the parade starts, otherwise, you will not be able to enjoy a nice view. Also, know the whole route in advance, as it alters its route sometimes and you can book your place anywhere throughout.

2. Enjoy Special Shows on Thanksgiving Weekend

Special shows have been organized in the city for celebrating the Thanksgiving weekend and the most special are the one that happens in the Radio City Music hall. Just make the arrangements and book your tickets in advance, and if you are with kids try and make sure to occupy the seat well before time.

3. Plan an Outdoor Thanksgiving Family Meal

What about planning a Thanksgiving meal in a nice restaurant with family? Call up your relatives to gather at a common place. Spend quality time with all of them, enjoy a nice meal, and convey your regards to the almighty for such a nice family time.

4. Volunteer for a Good Cause

The best of thanksgiving can only be celebrated by being the part of a good cause, either serve food, clothes or daily essentials to the needy. Prepare a stall outside your home to give away the essentials and celebrate Thanksgiving in its own unique way.

5. Give your Home a Nice Thanksgiving Décor

Give your home a nice décor with some simple budget ideas, as it will appease your craving of doing something different on Thanksgiving and will also give a fresh look to your home.
  • A Thanksgiving wreath is a must for the welcome gate, either make it yourself at home with beautiful laces, leaves, pinecones, hypericum berries, champagne grapes, and flowers etc.
  • Inexpensive Melamine plates are another good option to hang them around on walls either in the dining area or above the fireplace.
  • Beautiful glow of candles to add that serene and peaceful glow in the home, use candles and let them glow. You can also bring in some nice candle stands to decorate them on the center table.
  • Just bring out your creativity, expand your thoughts and make your home shine this Thanksgiving.

    6. NYC Tours and Trips

Thanksgiving is not only about the Macy’s parade, but there are several other trips and tours around the city as well such as Holiday light tour, Food of NY tour, Hamilton walking tour etc. that are enough to keep you packed with celebrations. But, it is always wise to book your tickets in advance so that you don’t miss out on any.

Thanksgiving is an official commencement of festivities in New York, so there is a different spirit in the city throughout filled with plenty of joy and positivity.

    7. Make it a Musical Celebration

Do you and your family members love music? It is the time to switch it on either for sing-a-long or dancing to the thanksgiving tunes. When you include music in the celebrations, they will get even more melodious. You can also make it a game and start a musical competition such as a silly dance competition, a karaoke competition etc.

    8. Take out those game boxes.

Just take out the game boxes you have in your closet which you haven’t played since the last Christmas. Take them out to play along with the family and believe me that it is going to be a great fun time and you will gather moments to cherish for long.

    9. Go for a Thanksgiving Walk or Run

The idea of taking a Thanksgiving walk or run around the big day is a good idea to help your digestion work in a better way after consuming the heavy Thanksgiving meal. Go for a walk with the whole family, this will enable you to check out things happening around in the city on the big day and it will also help you stay healthy and happy.

But, as the season changes a lot on the occasion, it is wise to take care of the dress and footwear you are going to wear while stepping out. Opt for an appropriate tracksuit and shoes like comfortable boots to keep your feet covered and comfortable while walking.

These were some of the Thanksgiving celebration ideas that can add more excitement and fun to the Thanksgiving celebrations. Just follow your heart, make all the necessary preparations and celebrate the big day in the best possible way.

11 Things Summer Nannies Can Relate To

As a college student, being a nanny over the summer is both enjoyable and challenging. Underneath the seemingly perfect trips to the pool or countless hours spent playing Monopoly are the obstacles that only nannies will understand. Trading in your valuable summer vacation in return for three months spent with a few children less than half your age may seem unappealing, but so many moments make it rewarding. For my fellow summer nannies out there, I know you can relate.

If it hurts now, it'll hurt again. Not because you're gullible or naive, only because you fall fast, hard, and you do it every time.

We fall each and every time with the complete and utter confidence that someone will be there to catch us. Now that person we SWORE we were never going to fall for has our hearts, and every time we see them our palms start sweating. The butterflies in our stomach start to soar and our hearts are entirely too close to bursting out of our chests.

Growing up I have always wanted to own a horse. My grandparents own a well known equestrian facility in Georgia, so I have been riding since I was born. A bond between a person and their horse is a bond so strong that it cannot be broken. Everywhere I went I wanted to be around horses, even forcing my family to go on trail rides during vacations. Horses have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember has taught me great responsibility, as well as 14 things that all equestrians can relate to.

College is super hard. Between working, studying, and having a social life, it feels like a struggle to just keep afloat.

I understand. When you feel like your drowning and there's no way to stay afloat I understand that it feels like everyone else is doing just fine. I understand all the frustration, long nights in the library, and that feeling that you want to just throw in the towel. I understand that sometimes it's too hard to get out of bed because your brain is already filled with too much information to remember. I understand because I am also feeling pretty burnt out.

No Matter How Challenging School Gets, You Have To Put Your Health First — A Degree Won't Mean Anything If You're Dead

Some of the best advice I've ever received was from my social studies teacher in sophomore year of high school. He stated, "If you don't know it at midnight, you're not going to know it for the 8 a.m. exam, so get some sleep."

It's such a simple piece of advice, but it holds so much accuracy and it's something that the majority of college students need to hear and listen to. "All-nighters" are a commonality on college campuses in order to cram in studying for an exam that is typically the next day.
