We're all excited to go home but I've heard that before you know it you end up wanting to go back to school by the time break is over. As a college freshman, there are several reasons I'm excited to return home and here are a few of them:

Seeing my parents.

Yes, I'm extremely excited to see my parents. I miss my mom and dad an extreme amount. I'm really excited to spend time with them since it's been so long and I wasn't able to see them for very long over Thanksgiving break.

Seeing and petting my pets.

My dogs are the number one thing that I wish could come to college with me. I miss them like crazy and you never realize how much they're your best friends until you're away from them for a long time.

Home cooked meals.

The dining hall gets old, boring, and kind of gross after a while. I can't wait to have a home cooked meal and be able to eat leftovers. My mom's cooking never sounded so good!

Food from places that aren't in the area of my college.

We all have those special places back home that aren't chain or aren't available in the certain towns or states. Here in Idaho, it's hard to find a burrito that compares to one back in California. There's also no In-N-Out here so I'm extremely looking forward to that.

Visiting with extended family.

Due to the holidays there will be plenty of family gatherings and plenty of opportunities to see family members other than immediate ones. There is also a lot of time over this break to go and visit family that might live further away.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
