So you've finally established your adult-ness by planning a trip abroad. Even if you're only going from America to Canada, you can relate to the reasons why everyone gets so excited pre-adventure.

1. Bucket List Items

Culture and sight seeing and adventuring, oh my! You've been looking forward to this day for a long time, and let's face it, you are really fucking excited to check some things off your ever-growing bucket list.

2. Food

Who doesn't love food? A new place on the map, come with new cullonary indulgences. You're going to eat so much new food, some delicious and some not so much - but all well worth the experience and memories made.

3. 13-Hour, Non-Stop Plane Ride

Seriously? Like no layovers or anything??! HOW EVER WILL I SURVIVE?

Just remember that they will serve you food. Food makes everything better. Plus you KNOW it'll all be worth it when you finally get there.

4. Your Social Media

You'll be seeing things from castles to clear blue oceans. you're selfie game is going to be so strong with all the amazing scenery how could one not resist the modernized documentation that you actually went there?! Pinterest-worthy travel pictures? Challenge accepted.

5. New People

Meeting new people can me extremely terrifying for some people but every person you're going to encounter has a different and unique story, take the time to listen to it. Go live, go meet new people, make friends all over the world. You'll enjoy the feeling of culture these people bring to you. Start with "hi."

6. A New Passport Stamp

Am I the only one who finds the stamp you get after going through customs one of the coolest parts? It's like a little reward for all the work you had to put in to get there!

7. New And Exotic Species

Otherwise known as animals, many are native to certain countries, and those countries only. I personally googled Quokkas, Koalas, and Kangaroo pictures for weeks before I traveled to Australia, mesmerized by their outback-like beauty. Theres so many animals in the world that you don't get to experience unless you travel... and trust me - they're even cutter in person.

8. Language

As crazy as it may seem there are some 6,500 languages spoken around the world today, so it's a given that when you travel abroad words and sayings may get a bit fumbled. For example, in Australia, Thongs are a term for a type of sandle; in America, they're an article of women's undergarment. Same word, yet quite different meanings. Don't let this scare you off - try out new words, make mistakes, and learn something new.

9. More?

Theres so much of the world that I have yet to explore. I haven't even left for this trip but I'm ready to start planning for the next one. How far in advance can I book a plane ticket to Russia? Oh! Or maybe Ghana?!

Safe travels this summer and be nice to your flight attendants.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
