The start of fall means many things including sweater weather, apple picking, pumpkin spiced everything, and most importantly, Thanksgiving break. For most of us, this is the first reunion of the year with high school friends and even family. The excitement is built up to a huge extent, which I feel to be very worthy. Even as a junior, my excitement to return home for Thanksgiving is just as high as it was freshman year. Here are just a few of the things I'm most looking forward to next
1. Thanksgiving day football game:
Every town has their big rival football team, and the Thanksgiving game usually draws the most fans. This is the perfect time to see old classmates you may not make an effort to see otherwise, throw on some old high school spirited clothes, and return to your old stomping grounds for a couple hours.
2. Repeating lazy Friday night traditions:
My close friends and I had a pretty regular Friday night agenda when we were feeling lazy. Go for sushi, get some ice cream, then hang out and watch a classic funny movie. Oh and maybe throw a bottle of wine in there.
3. The smells of home-cooked food:
The moment I walk into my house for Thanksgiving break I instantly smell cookies in the oven, dinner being slaved away at, and a nice table set to truly make me feel like I’m home.
4. SKANKSGIVING:
This is my personal favorite, the one, the only, “skanksgiving.” To give a brief explanation of this term, getting together with all your high school friends to pregame in someone’s kitchen then go out to a bar, or maybe even relive the classic high school house parties.
5. The morning after- bagel style:
No night out is complete without inhaling bacon egg and cheeses the next morning while running into every single person you know at the local bagel store. Don’t forget the sunglasses and large iced coffee, this could be a long morning of run-ins.
