Ah, Zachary David Alexander Efron. If you have eyes, no matter your age, race, or gender, odds are you know about this beautiful gift from God. At 28 years old, Zac has an impressive film and even television career. He's starred in over 40 movies or TV episodes, all since 2002, when he landed his first gig on an episode of "Firefly." Currently, he is filming a new "Baywatch" movie set to hit theaters in 2017 (Yet another reason to thank God.). He is best known for his films "17 Again," "The Lucky One," "That Awkward Moment," and, of course, "High School Musical." HSM is the franchise that helped Zac burst into the spotlight. Since 2016 marks 11 years since the first of the trilogy was released, I thought it would be appropriate to take a stroll down memory lane and see how our beloved Zachary has changed over the years. So without further adieu, here is 11 years of Zac. Enjoy!
Disclaimer if you are in public: You might want to make sure you don't drool too much.
1. 2006.
Ah, the year of "High School Musical." Yes, Zac did some other work before this, 25 other small roles in films or TV episodes to be exact. But this was when he burst into the spotlight, and into the hearts of millions of teenage girls.
2. 2007.
HSM blew up so much, that a second movie was released the following year, along with "Hairspray" (C'mon, who didn't love that curl that fell so perfectly into his face?). This was when Zac solidified his heartthrob status. Who couldn't love him, with those stunning blue eyes, the perfect swoop of hair, that sparkling smile? Swoon.
3. 2008.
The final movie the HSM franchise was released, where we all cried watching Troy choose a school that was only 32.7 miles away from Gabriella. We wiped away tears as our time at East High was over, and we wondered where we would see Zac again.
4. 2009.
"17 Again." He just finished playing a teen who graduated from high school, yet he was back again and hotter than ever. This was more of a comedic role, and was his only film that year. Needless to say, we ate it up. I still literally turn into the heart eye emoji when he whips on that leather jacket.
5. 2010.
Did any of you know that Zac had his own calendar? Yeah, neither did I. I'm kinda jealous of the girls who did. It's now selling on Amazon for a whopping $1,979.95. If that doesn't show you Zac's star status, I don't know what will. Also, who didn't cry watching him star in Charlie St. Cloud? I still can't watch that movie without balling like a baby.
6. 2011.
Yes. Yes Zac, I would love to find out. Please. Who wouldn't? This was when the long hair we all knew and loved suddenly got a lot shorter. And, not surprisingly, he still looked amazing. Zac was growing up before our eyes. He was no longer a boy. He was a man -- a man we all dreamed of having, even though we were still babies.
7. 2012.
2012 might just be my favorite year of Zac. At least, this is my favorite picture. He released five films in this year. That's a crazy amount of work. But he managed to do it and still look flawless. Just look how happy he is! A happy Zac equals a happy life.
8. 2013.
2013 was a bit off, as he only released one film: "Parkland." Not much really happened, besides that this was the year when Zac realized that he could grow facial hair. I love a good beard, but sorry Zac, that mustache isn't working so well for you.
9. 2014.
I remember watching Zac on Ellen, when she shared this photo on the big screen. Zac just giggled and blushed, making it "That Awkward Moment." Zac starred alongside Miles Teller and Michael B. Jordan in this film. All I can say about it is, "Hotness overload!" 2014 was also the year of "Neighbors," and as a sorority girl, I can say I've never loved a frat boy more.
I'm also just gonna leave this extra one here. Thank you, Rita Ora.
10. 2015.
2015 was the year of "We Are Your Friends." Sadly, the film didn't get the greatest reviews. But it's okay Zac, at least you're still pretty.
11. 2016.
Well, hello body. This photo clearly shows that Zac is no longer the little boy who sang with the sweet brainiac and fell in love. Now he's filming a brand new "Baywatch" film, and looking seriously like a bodybuilder. He is starring alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The scary thing is that The Rock doesn't look that large next to Zac, which just shows how much he's grown since we first fell in love with him. This film won't come out until 2017, but from the looks of all the behind the scenes photos we've been getting, it's gonna be good.
It's clear that HSM helped Zac Efron kick start his career. Hopefully, these years are only the beginning of a long and beautiful career. As long as Zac decides to act, I'll buy a ticket. He's just too pretty not to. Stay gorgeous, Zachary.
FYI: Did you know Zac has a younger brother? Dylan Efron is only 24, and literally just as beautiful. The world cannot handle this...
