The Evolution of Miley Cyrus

She has sure proven that she "Can't be Tamed".

The Evolution of Miley Cyrus

Hannah Montana played a huge role in my preteen years. If you’re being honest with yourself, I know you would agree. The heart-warming show taught me the importance of friendship, how annoying brothers can be and not to waste my time on boys. My question is, what happened to the Hannah Montana Miley Cyrus? Who is this Dead Petz girl that hosted the VMAs last week? Sure she’s not the first to stray from the Disney Star spotlight, but it might be the most dramatic change we’ve seen. Let’s take a look at the old Miley vs. the new.

1. Her albums: Hannah Montana vs. Miley and Her Dead Petz

Hannah Montana included several songs that served as young girls’ anthems. Miley and Her Dead Petz includes a song about a dead blowfish named Pablow

2. Her hair: Long locks vs. fake dread

I don’t know why Miley decided to cut her hair off in the first place, but what concerns me even more is the nasty fake rat’s nest she put on her head to host an awards show.

3. Her guest stars: Dolly Parton vs. Baddie Winkle

Aunt Dolly made several guest appearances on Hannah Montana. She was the fun, spunky aunt that everyone loved to see. Now she is letting Baddie Winkle tag along to the VMAs… I think we all know what Miley will look like when she is 80 some years old.

4. Her breakup songs: “7 Things” vs. “I Forgive Yieu”

Her pre-crazy breakup song touched the hearts of young girls nation-wide. We could all relate when falling for silly junior high boys. Her newest breakup song (which I am led to believe is about Liam), is just strange. She sings “I’m not about that sh*t, so I forgive you”.

5. Her wardrobe: Sparkles vs. next to nothing and eyeballs

We all adored Miley’s wardrobe when she performed as her alter ego. She looked great in her sparkles, scarves and blonde wig. Now Miley gets on stage wearing next to nothing and completely “abstract” costumes.

6. Her father: Old Billy Ray vs. New Billy Ray

Billy Ray Cyrus has made some changes too. He’s no longer singing the classic “Achy Breaky Heart”, but now a remixed version with half naked women in his music video… I guess at least he’s still supporting his daughter.

7. Her conflicts: Amber and Ashley vs. Nicki Minaj

In her television show, Miley was dealing with your typical petty (pre)teen girls. Does “oooh… tsss” ring any bells? Now Miley is getting called out by female rappers on national television. You know, “Miley, what’s good?”

I give Miley a lot of credit for staying true to herself, but I think we can all agree that the 2006 Miley Cyrus will always have a special place in our hearts. So, Miley, in the words of Hannah Montana, "I miss you. I miss your smile and I still shed a tear every once in a while. Even though it's different now, you're still here somehow". Keep getting "fweaky".

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
