Every college kid knows the agonizing stress that comes along with finals week. The semester is still in session and every professor seems to pile on the work before summer break. Here are some tips on staying afloat for all you college kids out there who are struggling to make it to the end of the semester.

1. Get plenty of sleep.

Many college students make the mistake of pulling all nighters to cram in all of their assignments at the last second. They spend hours upon hours in the library writing papers and preparing for tests until they are practically asleep on the table. This practice is extremely unhealthy for our bodies and can be detrimental to our grades. It is so important to let our brains rest at the end of the day, so that we can remember all of the information we are studying and get through the last two weeks of the semester energized. Try your best to get the recommended eight hours of sleep every night; it will really pay off.

2. Manage your time wisely.

Easier said than done, right? Prioritize your work and set aside enough time each day to get productive things done. Procrastinating can be difficult to avoid, but nothing compares to a sense of accomplishment.

3. Stay organized.

Becoming disorganized can make you more stressed out. Try to keep your personal spaces and work as neat as possible. Make checklists, calendars, or anything that can help you remember what you need to get done.

4. Find time to relax.

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Taking time to do things you enjoy will make it much easier to get to your classes and get all of your assignments done on time.

5. Treat yourself.

Reward yourself for all that you are doing. Eat that chocolate cake, buy a new outfit, or watch an extra episode of you favorite show on Netflix. You earned it! If you are a caffeine addict like myself, you might want to indulge in an extra cup of coffee or two this week.

6. Exercise.

Working out will help you get out frustration that comes along with being stressed. It will also keep your body in it’s best shape and ensure that you are staying healthy.

7. Eat healthily.

Another big part of physical health is eating a good diet. Choose energy rich foods to keep your brain focused on your studies and your body feeling good. Feeling stressed may make it hard to resist junk foods, but try to stick to a balanced diet. You want to do your best to stay in tip top shape.

8. Stay positive!

It is easy to get overwhelmed by the demands of academia during this extremely busy time. Most importantly, do your best to stay positive. Do what you need to do to keep your spirits high and your grades higher!

Put these tips to the test and you'll be soaring through the final days of your semester!

Sorority

I remember my freshman year oh so well. I remember feeling terrified the night before orientation. The one thing that I dreaded the most was not the new people, the new environment, or even the academic pressure. I was dreading having to talk to sorority girls about Recruitment. I remember cutting off and avoiding any Rho Gamma/Panhellenic Officer that came my way during First Week. I looked at them like they had asked me to cut my arm off whenever they asked me if I wanted to rush. To be honest, I did not even know what rush was, but I knew that I did NOT want to be a part of it. To me, it was dumb. It was a waste of money. It was a waste of my time.

And guess what? I did not rush my freshman year. I spent the first half of my freshman year isolating myself from everyone on campus. I spent all of my time in the library, and then (since I was a commuter) went back home once my work was finished.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
