Ahh Thanksgiving. A day filled with cooking, family, and stuffing your face. For college students constantly having to struggle with term papers and exams, it can be difficult to take a step back and be thankful for all of the great and wonderful things that have blessed our lives. During the season of giving and giving thanks, I like to remind myself of all of the things that have shaped me into the person I am today. Here is what I am most thankful for each and every day.
Faith
I was born and raised Catholic, and since starting college I have grown in my faith and the relationship I have with God. As school and life start to pile up, I always remind myself to keep God as my Number One priority above anything else.
My Wonderful Parents
I am an only child born to a Puerto Rican father and Mexican mother. They both have sacrificed so much for me and have provided me with countless opportunities for my future. I have also learned so much from them about life in general, and both of my cultures. I am proud to call them my parents.
My Best Friends
I have been blessed with some of the most amazing friends of whom I have been able to sustain relationships with since high school. These girls have always been there for me, and even though I don't always get to see them, every time I do it seems as if no time has passed at all. Not only are they my best friends, but they are also my sisters.
Education
I am one semester away from graduating with a Neuroscience degree from the University of Nevada, Reno. Going to college was always a dream of mine growing up, and I am thankful for everything I have been able to learn, as well as the people that I have been able to meet along the way.
Phi Delta Epsilon
I am a member of a pre-medical fraternity and this organization has provided me with a second family that provides a constant reminder for why I want to become a doctor. I am most thankful for the people, some of whom I consider my closest friends.
Intevarsity Christian Fellowship
I am also a member of Intervarsity, where I have the great opportunity of singing with the Worship Band. I joined at a time when I felt most lost and distant from God. This organization welcomed me with open arms into a fellowship dedicated to serving God and building a diverse community of people.
