Everything Is Going To Be Okay

As cliché as it is, there is truly always light at the end of the tunnel.

Everything Is Going To Be Okay

(Okay, this one is just as much for me as it is for you, if not maybe even a little more.)

Everything is going to be okay.

What you are facing is temporary. It will go away. At least for awhile. You will catch a break.

Stop making yourself believe that everyone around you is perfect. They are far from it.

You cannot compare yourself to anyone else, you are uniquely your own.

You are not perfect. And that is perfectly okay. Accept this. Be proud of it.

Imperfection looks beautiful on you.

You can cry, you probably need to, and I guarantee you will feel better after you realize that everything you’ve been holding in can be let go of. Release it, set yourself free.

Progress is progress, no matter how small, you will get there.

Even if you’ve taken a step in the wrong direction, you have still progressed forward, you have still learned something.

You will not always get what you want when you want it, but if you’re patient maybe you’ll realize those things that you were waiting for were not what you wanted at all. Time can often spare you far more than you think you can spare it.

Complaining to yourself and dreading a task may be inevitable, but knowing you will get through things and trying to do so positively, will help you much more throughout the process. To any extent that you can control your mindset, take advantage of it.

Find the things you enjoy, let them help you. Do not push them away. Do not isolate yourself.

Do not confuse happiness with guilt. Even in stressful times, it is okay to take some time to have fun and to relax. It’s actually super important for you, and you honestly probably don’t do it enough. So go laugh a little.

People care about you. People love you. People want you to do well. People will help you. People matter. You matter.

You might have to push your limits a little to get through things, but you will realize you are capable of much more than you ever thought.

Stop doubting yourself. You do it far too much. And you’re missing out on yourself.

Darkness makes the light shine a lot brighter. Appreciate even the tiniest sparks.

As cliché as it is, there is truly always light at the end of the tunnel, so please do not stop believing that. It might even take a couple tunnels to get there, but tunnels are actually really cool looking sometimes, and I think you can learn a lot from them if you begin to look at them in a different way.

Roll the windows down. Enjoy the ride. Enjoy the moments that the wind rushes past your face.

Feel yourself smile. Feel your eyes widen and the corners of your mouth stretch apart and upward. Feel your happiness. Feel everything in that moment. Let it carry you forward.

Look at yourself in the mirror, look at your legs, see how far they’ve carried you, look at your hands and all the hard work they’ve done, look into your eyes and tell yourself that you can continue on.

If you tell yourself everything is going to be okay, it will. You don’t even need anyone else to say it for you.

You are enough. You are capable.

It will end. Whatever it is. You will make it through, and you should be proud of yourself for doing so.

Everything is going to be okay.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. You have three assignments due and little time to work on them because of your job. You’re running late because you’ve hit snooze one to many times after yesterday’s long hours. You dizzily reach for a hoodie, craving its comfort, and rush for a speedy exit, praying you will have time to pick up coffee. Does this sound familiar?

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies. Here is a few signs that you may live in the library, whether you'd like to admit it or not.
