Far too many get caught up in the idea of a New Year's resolution, and very few end up following through with their plans. Though the sentiment is there when one claims that they will start a gym routine, save more money, eat healthier, or anything else that they may decide upon, a resolution will not be successful if one does not stick to it. This is not to say that resolutions should not be made; rather it is perhaps a signal to try for something more attainable.
My resolution is to work towards the best version of myself.
This is both general and specific simultaneously. I am not committing to one solid idea. I plan to make choices that are in the interest of my best self, whatever that may mean. While nothing is set in stone, there are some steps that I know I will be taking this year.
I will be cutting toxic people out of my life. I will be a true friend. I will acknowledge my blessings, and help those who are not as fortunate. I will take time out of my day to care for both my physical and mental health. I will be less guarded, and more open with my feelings.
As the year progresses, I will find new areas that need attention, and I will decide on a way to address them, all in the interest of becoming the best version of myself.
Everyone can, and should, reflect and reevaluate life as they know it, and do what they can to improve it.
