This is what your favorite pair of sneakers says about the way you experience life

In This Article:

I am a shoe fanatic.

I don't know whether to be ashamed or proud, but I have 16 pairs of converse and yes I still wear all of them. My love for shoes wasn't always this strong, however. I was someone who thought athletic shoes were fashionable and that was a dark time that I don't want to visit anymore.

However, with my addiction to shoes, I've discovered that everyone's shoes tell a story (well at least in my eyes). So here's a list of five sneakers and what they say about you if you own a pair.

1.The "I know they are literally black now but they're my favorite white shoes" sneakers.

I feel like a lot of us have gone through that phase were we own white sneakers that are so dirty and black, but we just can't seem to get rid of them. Even if we've washed them, they are still dirty and somehow it has become natural for us to see them that way. I've had this happen with my favorite white Converse. I accidentally stepped in mud one day and that was the downfall of those shoes for me. Yet, I still wear them and pair them with my clothes because they are just iconic. Before the mud incident, I was cautious not to get the shoes dirty, so much so that I would put them in their box every day and not let them sit outside and get dusty.

The story that a pair of dirty white shoes tells is: Oops! Not my white ones! Welp, I guess there's no escaping the scuffs now. It was bound to happen.

2. The "I am not sure if these are ugly" sneakers.

Let's face it, we all have one pair of shoes that we just can't decide if they're really ugly or cool. It's somewhere on the border and what you think of the sneaker will typically depend on your mood. I never thought I would have this problem until I realized that the blue Nike running shoes I have with a neon pink Nike logo and purple laces might not have been the most pleasing shoes to look at. When I bought them they seemed cool, but then outside the store, not so much.

The story these tell is very simple: I bought it, I regret it, but I have no choice so I have to wear it.

3. The "Don't even think about eating or drinking near these shoes" sneakers.

I am talking Nike Air Forces, Jordan's, Adidas, limited edition Chucks, basically, anything that you've spent at least $80 falls into this category. These also don't have to be sneakers, dress shoes and heels are also included. This is the shoe you wear once a month. This is the shoe that you know people will notice when you walk through the door. This is the shoe that you wear on the date to impress the girl/guy. You clean them every time and keep them in the box on top of your closet and get excited every time you wear them (is this just me...? I hope not).

I can guarantee that everyone who cares about shoes has a pair that matches the description above. These shoes are what you save up for and what you might be lucky enough to get as a gift.

The story these shoes tell is: step aside and let me rock these because I spent too much money on them. It is that day of the month again where all I talk about is the shoes I am wearing. Be prepared to hear the "do you like my shoes?" question throughout the day. I only drink water when I am wearing these shoes and don't you dare come near me with that bowl of salsa. I can't risk it. I am on a mission to get people's attention in the subtlest way possible. Let me live.

4. The "I think they can still work. They aren't THAT broken" sneakers.

We can all admit that even if we have a lot of shoes, we always circulate to the same black pair that God knows when we bought. I personally do this with my black Converse all the time. I never feel the need to buy new black Converse until the one that I've been wearing is completely destroyed (sole coming off, shoelaces breaking, the works). These are just the pair that you know you can throw on no matter what outfit you are wearing. I guarantee that any shoe lover has that one black pair (like the white pair) that they know they will NEVER throw away. Even if the shoe stops fitting, they will keep it because "it's my black shoe," Duh.

The story these tell is my favorite: Yeah I have many pairs of shoes but these just keep matching my outfit the best and I just don't think I could live without them. They might be falling apart but they are still keeping my feet dry and that's what matters. I don't think I could ever get a new pair. They're not that broken trust me. I could wear these in the rain and be completely fine.

5. The "Are these too loud?" sneakers.

This one, I'm guilty of. I almost never match my shoes to my outfits and I don't know if that's a problem or a good thing. Everyone is always commenting on my shoes and I know it's because they are always the thing that stands out in my outfit. I encourage you to do this because it really shows you have style. I am no stylist but I think this would be a great edition to spice up an outfit.

The story these tell is: I am loud, so I need something to match my personality. I don't think green goes well with purple but today it does. I can pull it off I swear!

I hope these made you laugh because I had fun writing them. Join me next week where I take on dress shoes.

Tiana would no doubt be disappointed in the food our cafeteria has to offer.

And hopefully she would cook for everyone in her dorm.

She definitley would not take any 8:00 am classes because she would be up late baking and cleaning up the communal kitchen that are available in every dorm.
