I have often wondered if people are the way that they are for a specific reason. Did they wander into my life to test me? To see how I will react? I've found that thinking positively about the not-so-nice people that come my life were specifically brought here by some divine intervention that wants me to be better.
I've spent almost all of my life trying to make things right with people. If something between a friend or relative and I, I would immediately attempt to repair the situation without understanding that the other person may have a way of coping that differs from mine. I'm the one who oversteps without realizing because I'm too busy trying to make peace.
I am extremely sensitive and I take everything personally but have taken the time to understand that not everything is about me. Some people do not care for me and my feelings as much as I do which is completely okay. I like to tell myself that I'm the type of person who would do anything for anyone, but that is simply just not a reasonable humanely trait to possess. This helps me understand that people are programmed to help themselves first, which is a fair characteristic. If we all spent our lives worrying about the impact that our decisions will have on everyone's feelings, we would all be pretty unhappy.
Let me be blunt. If people are assholes, that is just simply who they are. Morphing them into our ideal person is like making them wear a mask that will eventually fall over time, uncovering their real identity. After bottling everything up for so long, they may even turn into an uglier version of themselves than they were in the first place.
Humans are one of the most common species on the planet. We can spend our entire lives trying to understand the differences between them and the ways that different minds work. I am young and just beginning to understand that not everyone is like me. They don't think the way that I do, speak the way that I do or react the way that I do. This isn't a bad thing, either. They say what doesn't kill us makes us stronger, but I really think it's who doesn't kill us makes us stronger, wiser and more understanding.
"We are all equal in the fact that we are all different. We are all the same in the fact that we will never be the same. We are united by the reality that all colours and all cultures are distinct & individual. We are harmonious in the reality that we are all held to this earth by the same gravity. We don't share blood, but we share the air that keeps us alive."
