Once upon a time, there was a girl named Rohitha who didn’t think that she was ever going to experience happiness.
That’s because nothing but bad things would ever happen to her, she always felt nothing but sadness and hopelessness. She thought that she was never going to be happy or actually not feel sad and depressed for one moment in her life.
With all the issues in her life, she could never see the light at the end of the tunnel. This went on for two years, the constant battle of trying to fight for her life drained her energy to the point where she could not see herself walking the earth one more time.
That is, until something clicked inside of her. A little voice instead of her head told her that she needed to force herself to be happy. At first, it was hard for her to admit that to herself, but no one could deny her happiness except herself. That’s when she told herself that she, Rohitha, was going to force herself to love herself and make sure that she doesn’t fall back into the hole she once was in.
Yeah, there are still good and bad days but that doesn’t stop her from making sure that she is happy and confident with who she is. Being happy is not a chore, being happy is more like a lifestyle. It’s kinda like going on a diet, except the “diet” is going to be the way you’re gonna live your life for the rest of your life. Most people choose to only diet for a certain period of time and in most cases, they end up falling off their diet. That’s not what happiness is about.
No matter the circumstances, feelings, sins, pain or even problems that may cloud a person; everyone should be happy. Because they deserve it! Happiness should be a feeling everyone should have in their life, no matter what’s going on. Happiness is like a reward for all the pain someone goes through, and that is the best gift a person can receive.
Even though some days it seems like our problems are the only thing that defines our life, but that’s definitely not true at all. Not being happiness took a toll on my mental health and during the time that was going through this rough patch, I saw a part of me I thought I would never see. I did things I never thought I would do. I become a different person. Someone who had darkness inside of her, all because she could not keep herself happy.
All in all, I’m doing better now even though it took me a while to get to the place that I’m in but it was worth it. If I can do it, you can too. Keep believing in yourself. The moment you stop believing, is the moment you fall.
