A person once told me that concerts are a pointless waste of money; I stared at them in utter disbelief that someone could find such an exhilarating experience to be to be anything less than fun. I can assure those anti-goers that you don't know what you're missing out on. I've been to 3 concerts now and have a long list of ones I'm planning on attending this year and my excitement is through the roof!
I couldn't imagine not attending at least one concert in my lifetime and I strongly encourage everyone to do the same. Just think, who is your favorite singer/band? Wouldn't want you want to see them perform all of your favorite hits live? There's nothing quite like getting to see your highly praised music idols in person and being able to jam and rock out along with them!
I can recall the last concert I went to perfectly; it was back in October and I had the pleasure of getting to see the Starboy himself, The Weeknd. Man, what a night that was! From the moment I arrived at Bridgestone and patiently awaited his presence to fill the arena, so when he finally blazed the stage with his strong piercing, vocals all the all the way to the very last note, this wave of adrenaline filled my entire body. I felt free, I felt alive. But if you're still against the idea of this, let me precisely explain what exactly it is you're missing out on.
First, the atmosphere in the Arena or Coliseum is sure to be something that can only be felt when you're at a concert. If there's one thing you'll have in common with everyone there, it's your common appreciation for the person you're there to see perform. You're excited, anxious, happy, carefree, so many emotions wrapped into one. With the last concert I attended I was riddin' solo but I was able to quickly make friends and as far as an easy conversation starter---hello, The Weeknd of course!
Secondly, as I previously stated you get to jam and rock out to your favorite artists or bands, but live. For all of you out there, there has to be at least one singer/band you'd give anything for to see in person just once. Just being in the same place as a mega-celeb makes me feel connected to them in a way; as an added bonus artists/bands typically have an equally mega opener that will take the stage before them, so you really get a two for one deal in a way.
Now I know one of the objections in regard to attending a concert can include the prices of tickets; however, ticket prices range from pretty cheap to quite pricey and here's a little advice, ticket prices also decline as the event gets closer if it doesn't sell out...you're welcome. If your're wanting to attend for mainly the experience then you could snag tickets for under $100 but if you're wanting to go all out, of course there are floor seats, and the pit section if you're wanting to be as close as possible to your music idol, but note that those tickets are going to cost you a high dollar, ranging $350 and up! Ticketmaster and Stubhub are two common website options when considering purchasing tickets for a concert or really any type of star-studded event.
Onto my favorite part of preparing for any concert, the outfit of course! I'm a huge clothes person and if there's any event that I can attend that will require me to put together a cute outfit or even purchase a new, you can guarantee I'm going to be there. With concerts, there's no limit to what you can/can't wear (keep it publicly decent of course) but you really have an opportunity to let those creative juices flow when coordinating the perfect concert outfit.
Finally, a great night will turn into an even better memory, and concerts are ideal for doing this. I still beam at thoughts of previous performers I have seen and I love being able to share the memory with friends, family, or maybe even someone who got to experience such a legendary night with. These nights are sure to be something you'll never forget.
Fun fact, did you know that concerts have health benefits? Believe it, because it's totally true. According to research, concerts have been said to enhance your mood (that's pretty obvious) but here's the shocker...you can burn calories! It makes sense if you're going to see a live show that involves music that will make you want to get up and dance.
All in all, concerts are SO worth it, and if you choose to opt out on this experience you really are missing out. Think of it as one of those "you just had to be there" experiences because you really do have to be there see exactly what I mean.
