With all the negativity in the world, it’s easy to forget just how wonderful life is.

Yes life can be difficult, but we shouldn’t become so consumed by the world that we let it taint the way we view life as a whole.

So, here are 6 things that may slip our minds from time to time, but that we should always be grateful for.

1. Friends/Family

Whether you are watching movies with your family, or going on late night adventures with your friends, these people have been with you through thick and thin, so make sure to tell them just how much you love and appreciate them because awesome people like them don't come around very often.

2. Pants

Shoutout to Kid President for making me realize just how important pants are because according to him "without pants, things would just be awkward".

3. Food

I love food and sometimes I take this one for granted. I forget just how many people there are in the world who don't have the opportunity to eat a nice meal. And yes, I am that person who will give you a dirty look for throwing away a plate half full of food.

4. Home

Maybe you have a bad home life, or you don't get along with your family, but just remember that at the end of the day, you always have a home and a bed to go to.

5. Being Able to Read This

Not many people in the world are able to read, and coming from a book nerd this breaks my heart, so the fact that you can not only read, but you're reading this is awesome! So keep being awesome and continue reading.

6. Cupcakes

I have yet to encounter a problem in life that a good cupcake, slice of cake, or even pie can't fix. So let's be grateful for the sweet and simple things of life.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
