Everyday Is Father's Day

Dads are great, as long as they don't abandon you in your early childhood causing you to have severe daddy issues and multiple maxed out credit cards because of all the therapy. If that's not you, then congrats! You have been blessed by one pun-master supreme. Let's talk a little about the joys of having a loving father in your life.

The Dad Joke

You have got to give it to them. Nothing fails to make you groan, cringe and uncomfortably shuffle simultaneously as dad humor. Sometimes it's ingenious, sometimes it's not. Either way, we love that we hate it.

The Awkward Interaction

The power struggle that occurs between your dad and your boyfriend is as primal as it gets. It always brings amused discomfort to you, your mother and any other unfortunate soul watching the initial interactions. It's endearing seeing how protective your father is of you. Who doesn't want to see their boyfriend squirm every now and then? If anyone can get that to happen, it's a dad.

The (No) Trust

Learning how to drive is a stressful experience. It's not an innate trait of humans and makes you feel like a fawn learning to walk. Your confidence isn't at its highest and you think having a parent with you will help you feel calm and safe. Wrong. Anxiety replaces that calm feeling and how can anyone feel safe when the person next to them questions their every movement? This experience results in a lot of screaming, panicking and silent treatment after the fact. Monumental as it is in the relationship between a father and their child, it is one many people do not try to dwell back on.

The Clear-Cut Advice

While a mom might over-analyze the situation and give you 500 choices for the thousands of scenarios she created in her head, your dad will give you one. He will deliver his advice in a matter-of-fact kind of way and go about his day. He will not overthink it later on in the day and try to continually discuss it with you. You've got to love a dad for his decisiveness and bluntness.

Jokes aside, there are many reasons to be thankful for a dad. They are the one person in your life, aside from your mother, that have your back no matter what. They give you the foundations on what a man should be and they make sure you don't settle for anything less. They give you support, advice and love anytime you need it in the most subtle ways. They may not smother you with affection, but there probably isn't a daughter out there that isn't loved most in the world by her father.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
