Only gingers will understand these struggles.

Here are some things some of us gingers struggle with and some of us may only understand. The ginger world is a different world let me tell you, but being a ginger is what makes us unique. So here’s some things only us gingers struggle with.

1. Always denying we are red heads.

Some of us aren’t full blown ginger. Some of us categorize ourselves as “strawberry blonde” or “no I don’t have freckles on my face” or “no I actually tan, I only burn a little”. We are always trying to hide our true identities, when really, being a ginger is rare so let’s embrace it while we can.

2. Always having to apply, reapply, and apply some more sunblock every hour or so when at the beach.

For some of us, it’s not even just at the beach. You could be sitting watching a baseball game and still get burnt. You could go on a walk around the block with your dog and still get a sunburn. Us fair skinned children don’t have it easy. So just accept it when your ginger friend has to keep reapplying sunblock so they don’t look like a tomato the next morning.

3. Believe it or not, we actually have souls.

Not quite sure where that stereotype came from, but we are humans, yes, and we do have souls. We do like to pull the “I have no soul” card on people sometimes just because we can and we have that ability.

4. We are very sensitive to pain and it is quite annoying.

You could pinch my arm and I would get a bruise and it would hurt for about 7 minutes and I’ll hate you for it. But get a ginger mad and you’ll regret pinching us. So watch out!

5.“Is that your natural hair color!?” – said everyone who I come in contact with.

Legit, I can’t tell you how many times I have been asked that question. “Yes, it is” is always my response. I’m not sure what is so fascinating about our hair color, but people seem to be obsessed with it.

6. People always tell us that we should date other gingers because we would “look cute together”.

No sorry I don’t find other gingers attractive. Yes, we understand the same struggles, but my ginger friends are family. We are one of a kind and we keep things real.

7. National Kick a Ginger Day is actually a thing and it falls on November 20th.

Why is there a day dedicated to kicking a ginger? Not too sure, you’re on your own for that one.

8. You always want to dye your hair a different color but when you say that, all your friends freak out and yell at you.

“Dying your hair wouldn’t make you a ginger anymore”, “no your hair is too pretty don’t dye it!”, or “you’ll never be able to get your natural hair color back!”

9. When you get embarrassed, you’re screwed.

Your face gets beat red and it doesn’t go away so you’re stuck embarrassed even more because people know you’re embarrassed. They then proceed to say “ooo, you’re blushing” like yes thank you I know I can feel my face getting hot, thank you kind civilian.

10. Everyone thinks that you’re related if you’re with other gingers.

We might as well just start saying yes so they can stop asking us all these questions and stereotyping us.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
