14 Weird Situations We ALL Have Experienced

Sadly, we all have been in a situation in which we feel so uncomfortable that we just want to run away, dig a hole, and hide in it. To be honest, I have been through many embarrassing moments that I wish I could forget, but NO! They are always there; stored in our memory...haunting us. However, instead of suppressing those memories, I have decided to write a list of some of the most awkward moments I have experienced. I know I am not alone and that is why I have decided to share a brief list of experiences everyone can relate to.

1. Holding the door open for someone that is far away...

This is particularly confusing when they call you and you do not know if it is you or someone else with a really weird name.

2. Not being able to OPEN a door

You know...sometimes--when there is not a sign--we get confused whether to pull or push a door to open it. (I hope is just not me!)

3. Uncomfortable Silence

This happens especially with people you just met. It is very uncomfortable; you just do not know what to say or where the conversation is going.

4. Not knowing how to write an email to your professor, doctor, or teacher (obviously NOT!)

High school should have taught us how to write formal emails rather than...so many other things! Every time I have to write an email, I just get confused and it takes me a lot of time and effort.

5. Not knowing how to "greet" someone

Should we hug, do a handshake, smile or just say Hi?...Idk...

6. Laughing about something that is funny but just for you.

Guess we do not share the same humor...Oops!

7. Yield the right of way

We frequently do this when we are driving--or even walking. But, what happens when we both yield the right of way? Who goes first?

8. Thinking you can sing...when you actually cannot :(

We are just not born with the talents we want...

9. Saying "you too" when it is not appropriate or out of context

I know we all have done this, especially when we are distracted.

10. When someone cannot pronounce your name

This is particularly confusing when they call you and you do not know if it is you or someone else with a really weird name.

11. Dancing like crazy...thinking you are alone, but are you really alone?

The typical situation in which you are in your room dancing with you headphones or blasting your favorite music, and someone walks in and gives you that LOOK..."Oops?"

12. When you are in a quiet room and...

...You are hungry and your stomach decides to make some weird and loud sounds--like a dying whale. "Great...perfect timing." :(

13. When you are daydreaming looking at nothing but...

You realize you are staring at someone and you just made him/her feel uncomfortable... "Do I know you?"

14. When you like someone and...

...You just become clumsy or start acting weird. "I promise this is NOT ME!"

Summer: a time (usually) free from school work and a time to relax with your friends and family. Maybe you go on a vacation or maybe you work all summer, but the time off really does help. When you're in college you become super close with so many people it's hard to think that you won't see many of them for three months. But, then you get that text saying, "Hey, clear your schedule next weekend, I'm coming up" and you begin to flip out. Here are the emotions you go through as your best friend makes her trip to your house.

Syllabus Week As Told By Kourtney Kardashian

Feeling Lost During Syllabus Week? You're Not Alone!

Kourtney Kardashian

Winter break is over, we're all back at our respective colleges, and the first week of classes is underway. This is a little bit how that week tends to go.

The professor starts to go over something more than the syllabus

You get homework assigned on the first day of class

There are multiple group projects on the syllabus

You learn attendance is mandatory and will be taken every class

Professor starts chatting about their personal life and what inspired them to teach this class

Participation is mandatory and you have to play "icebreaker games"

Everybody is going out because its 'syllabus week' but you're laying in bed watching Grey's Anatomy

Looking outside anytime past 8 PM every night of this week

Nobody actually has any idea what's happening this entire week

Syllabus week is over and you realize you actually have to try now...or not

Now it's time to get back into the REAL swing of things. Second semester is really here and we all have to deal with it.

panera bread

Whether you specialized in ringing people up or preparing the food, if you worked at Panera Bread it holds a special place in your heart. Here are some signs that you worked at Panera in high school.

1. You own so many pairs of khaki pants you don’t even know what to do with them

Definitely the worst part about working at Panera was the uniform and having someone cute come in. Please don’t look at me in my hat.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.
