Because we are enrolled in college, we are all either eighteen or older which means that we are eligible to vote; therefore, we should all exercise our right to vote. In order for change to take place, we are all responsible for electing the right person we believe will move our country forward. With the presidential election slowly approaching on November 8th, it is important to remember why we should vote, especially when we have someone running who can possibly destroy this country. Voting helps make decisions that will determine every aspect of our lives from health care to homeland security and education. The foundation we lay down now will affect our grandchildren and their generation. Being black in America is already hard and seeing up close how many people are supporting Donald Trump proves that we, as young intelligent African Americans, have to take a stand. We have to make sure our voices are heard loud and clear. Also, encourage your friends to register to vote and cast their vote for the person they believe will best fit the position. People have died for us to have the opportunity to vote so let’s do them justice by going out to the polls on November 8, 2016 to vote.
