Stop. The. World. The first official trailer for the Gilmore Girls revival has been released and I am on emotional overload.
Over the years, several T.V. series have found a special place in my heart, but very few have created a permanent residence quite like Gilmore Girls. For those of you that don't know, Gilmore Girls, starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel, ran for seven glorious years on The WB (eventually moving to The CW), filling our homes with fast paced pop culture references every Tuesday night until it's conclusion in 2007. Being a staple in my house, I can confidently say I've seen every episode of the series at least three times, and my favorite episodes, at least ten. It was one of my first committed T.V. relationships, and I look back on that romance fondly.
Tragedy struck in its final season when the beloved creator and series writer Amy Sherman-Palladino did not have the opportunity to be involved with the series' finale, and therefore was unable to give the characters the ending she, and audiences had envisioned over the previous seven years. For myself and many others, the ending of the series felt abrupt and unsettled. I wanted more for the women who had become like family to me, but I reluctantly accepted the finale for what it was and moved on with my bitter self.
Now, nearly ten years later, a blessing has descended upon us from the heavens. Netflix announced in October of 2015 that it would be featuring a four part mini-series entitled Gilmore Girls: A Year In the Life, bringing back all of our Stars Hallow favorites and most importantly, giving Amy Sherman-Palladino a chance to give the Gilmore girls the happy ending they always deserved.
It wasn't until last Monday that the first trailer FINALLY arrived and needless to say the entire thing was brimming with delicious, coffee scented nostalgia. Ecstatic is an understatement. I mean am I even breathing?
And now: every thought I had while watching the revival trailer for the very first time!
A spring festival? I want a spring festival. WHERE is real life Stars Hallow?!
They're both still so pretty. Sweet lord.
Best mother-daughter duo of all time.
Witty banter. Classic.
Omg. That house at Christmas is magical.
How much is their mortgage?
Luke being cynical. Classic.
Still rocking the baseball hat.
Wait, is that the same hat?
They're totally those girls who stuff their faces and never get fat. Infuriating.
RICHARD. BLESS YOUR SOUL YOU IMPOSSIBLE PATRIARCH. RIP
Kelly Bishop. Forever goddess.
Still sort of super confused why Rory went to Yale but.
KIRK! UGH.
MMM K here comes the theme song hitting me directly in the feels.
Lorelai is in therapy. Lorelai ended up with Luke. Tell me so much more.
Holy shit Emily is in a t-shirt. I thought she slept in skirt-suits.
Funeral. Richard's funeral. God, there aren't enough tissues.
De-cluttering? I should de-clutter. Let's all de-clutter. What brings us joy? WHAT?
Rory needs to find some direction. I already hit my limit with her being "lost", work it out.
Jess. Ah. I'm sweating. I wanna lick his face.
Taylor. Love to hate. Hate to love.
Still really wanna go to a town meeting.
Oh, Michel, the spirit animal of all spirit animals.
Hey! There's a pig!
Eh, really could have done without seeing Dean, like, ever again.
BABETTE AND PATTY. Friendship goals. Where do I sign up?
Stop it right now. Sookie in her chef jacket, so many feelings.
Paris has a pixie cut!
Logan. Be still my heart. Why did she say no to marrying him again?
LANE! Still drumming. Still adorable.
Yup. I'm already crying.
Netflix, I am forever in your debt.
Needless to say, the excitement is overwhelming. We still have to wait another month for the first episode to be released on November 25th, but the promise of sweet fulfillment at long last is well worth the wait. Now I'm gonna go watch the trailer a hundred more times.
