Coffee, particularly caffeine, is labeled the most widely used drug in America. Who can doubt that when there is either a Starbucks or a Dunkin Donuts located on almost every street corner. Coffee has become one of the most popular ways to get the day started. For many, it is the only kind of addiction that is openly stated. Here are seven things a regular coffee drinker says on the daily.
Can we go get coffee?
Especially in groups of people, the regular coffee drinker will suggest a coffee run as a social activity. Mostly out of necessity, as coffee can help them function in social settings. However, grabbing a coffee can also be a saving grace for first dates or meetings.
Hold on, I haven't had any coffee yet.
Prior to doing all activities, big or small in nature, a cup of coffee is a must! It is difficult to put a brain to work without a stream of caffeine in the bloodstream. Thus, making coffee the first step to a productive day for a regular consumer of the beverage.
Do I have coffee breath?
Ah, the one downfall of coffee! Coffee breath is awful, especially for the partners, friends, and family of a heavy coffee drinker.
If yes, how bad is it?
This is easily combated by carrying chewing gum or brushing your teeth after a cup, but most coffee drinkers have one instance or another where they have to ask someone for a coffee breath check.
Caffeine doesn't affect me anymore.
After drinking coffee for a long time, caffeine, unfortunately, loses its effect. For many coffee drinkers, this problem is a huge barrier when trying to wake up and go to work or school in the morning. Even throughout the day, it is hard to get that boost when the coffee doesn't work as well.
It's never too early or too late for coffee.
In the morning coffee is always a given for a regular coffee drinker. However, most people doubt the regular drinkers' ability to drink coffee later in the day and go to sleep at night. Based on the statement in my last point, most coffee drinkers can indeed fall asleep after a cup. Also, it is not uncommon for the drinker to fall asleep with the beverage in hand!
Decaf is not real coffee.
The debates about regular versus decaf coffee go on and on between the serious drinker and the more casual drinker. However, the heavy coffee drinking perspective on the issue definitely leaves decaf coffee off the radar. Why drink the coffee if not for the caffeine?
There is no such thing as too much coffee.
Although science may say otherwise, the regular coffee drinker truly endorses this rule. Morning, noon, or night, there is always a designated time (purposely set aside) for a cup of coffee. Coffee has become a relaxing ritual for the regular drinker. Its calming effects contribute directly to the functionality of the serious drinker.
